Abstract
Introduction. Gynecological disorders are often manifested by experiencing pain. Disorders on the part of the musculoskeletal system can cause symptoms that can mimic diseases of internal organs, also internal organs can mimic symptoms of dysfunction for the musculoskeletal system. An ongoing disease process within a particular internal organ can trigger a reflex response from the musculoskeletal system, such as locking of the spinal joints in the corresponding organ’s spinal segment. Objective.
The purpose of this study is to present the physiotherapeutic functional diagnosis of the pelvis in relation to gynecology.
Material and methods. Two independent reviewers searched medical and public databases, such as PubMed, Scopus and PEDro, using search terms and MeSH, such as physiotherapy, functional diagnosis, functional assessment, gynecology. The inclusion criterion was an article published in a peer-reviewed journal, with no restriction on the extent of the year of publication. There were no restrictions on the language of publication. Journal databases were reviewed between May and June 2023.
Conclusions. There is a lack of description of functional physiotherapy examination in gynecology including postural and pelvic types in scientific publications.

Mental impairment and functional status of children with cerebral palsy

Abstract
Background. Mental impairment associated with infantile cerebral palsy affects approx. 30% of the children and is a serious risk factor influencing the course of functional education and the final functional outcome. The aim of this study was to carry out a functional assessment of motor skills of children with bilateral hemiplegia and intellectual handicaps with respect to locomotion, mobility and dexterity A further goal was to determine the relationship between the degree of intellectual handicap and the functional status ofthe children. Material and methods. The study involved 31 children (16 boys and 15 girls) aged 8-16 years with infantile cerebral palsy presen-ting as bilateral hemiplegia with mental impairment. The children were divided into three groups based on the severity of intellectual impairment (moderate, marked and severe). The paediatric version of the Functional Assessment of Patients scale was used for the functional assessment. We chose three domains: locomotion, mobility and dexterity. Two assessments were carried out 12 months apart. Results. The overall score as well as the domain scores decreased with increasing intellectual handicap. This obsenation ap-plied to the baseline and final assessment alike. However, the degree of functional change between the assessments was not si-gnificantly related to the level of mental impairment. Conclusions. The degree of mental impairment In children with bilateral hemiplegia is strongly correlated with their functional status in the locomotion, mobility and dexterity domains. The degree of change in functional status assessed with the basie questions ofthe paediatric modification of the Functional Assessment of Patients scale was not significantly associated with the se-yerity of intellectual impairment.

FMS test in assessing the risk of injury in a group of female floorball players

Abstract
Functional Movement Screening is one of the tests which allow you to find the existing risk of injury. The aim of the work was to assess the state of functional movement possibilities of female floorball players with the use of the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test and to assess the possibility of improving the result with the use of a set of corrective exercises. The research covered a group of 50 fit young women aged 16-24, training floorball in the category of senior juniors and seniors (mean age 18.2). To evaluate the movement patterns, Functional Movement Screen (FMS) was used. The assessment with the FMS test consisted of seven functional movement tests. The average score obtained by the athletes in the FMS test before the correction was 14.6 points (SD = 1.5), after the correction 16.3 points (SD = 1.4). Female floorball players, based on the FMS test, present a good level of basic mobility with the risk classification of 25-35%. Introducing correction according to the FMS test after just 2 months improves the functional efficiency of the female floorball players.

Functional assessment of female dancers representing different dance styles, such as jazz and hip-hop, based on the Functional Movement Screen Test

Abstract
The objective of this study was to assess the level of functional fitness of 30 female dancers (16 jazz dancers and 14 hip-hop dancers), aged between 16 and 21 years. An important research goal was to determine whether there are any differences in the level of functional fitness between the two groups, depending on the dance style. Moreover, the study also aimed to assess the correlation between the style of dance and the results obtained for the particular components of the FMS test. The study was carried out in the Egurrola Dance Studio in Krakow in April 2018. The final result of the tests provided a picture of the overall physical fitness of the examined group of dancers, and was found to be appropriate, since the total mean score was above the limit value of an increased injury risk. No differences were found between jazz and hip-hop dancers with regard to the overall physical fitness score. At the same time, however, differences were detected in the detailed scores for the particular FMS components. The test results reflected the level of functional fitness among the dancers, and the detailed scores confirmed the differences in that level depending on the type of activity.

Functional assessment of the shoulder joint in volleyball players from different age groups

Abstract

Objective. The aim of the paper was to perform functional analysis and assessment of the range of movement of the joints of the pectoral girdle in the dominant and non-dominant limb in volleyball players. Materials and methods. The study involved 40 competitive volleyball players divided into 2 groups. The shoulder joint movement range assessment involved active performance of specific movements by the participants while lying down. The tool used to take the measurements was a standard goniometer, while the movements were performed in different planes in a specified and systematic way in accordance with the SFTR method. The second stage involved the performance of 3 proposed functional tests to assess the complex range of movements of the shoulder girdle. The tools used to assess the tests performed were a standard goniometer and a flexible tape measure. Results. The results of the tests were subjected to statistical analysis with the use of the Statistica 10 software. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. In addition, the average motion ranges and functional test results were compared. Conclusions 1. Both the Youth group and the Senior group showed a significant decrease in the range of internal rotation of the dominant limb as compared to the non-dominant limb. In addition, a deficit was found in the Youth group in horizontal flexion of the dominant limb. 2. The results of the functional tests show worse results of the “safety pin” test for the dominant limb in both groups. In the Youth group, the difference amounted to 7.4 cm and in the Senior group – 10.1 cm as compared to the non-dominant limb. 3. The Seniors achieved higher ranges of flexion in the sagittal plane and the Youth in extension and horizontal extension. 4. Athletes with a higher internal rotation range of the shoulder joint of the dominant limb achieved higher results in the “safety pin” test.
