Zofia Kubińska, Kamil Zaworski – Physioprophylaxis of civilization diseases in the consciousness and health behaviours of students of medical faculties at PSW in Biała Podlaska. Fizjoterapia Polska 2019; 19(2); 130-140

Abstract
The task of physioprophylaxis is to promote health-related behaviors as well as to shape and maintain the fitness and efficiency of people of all ages in order to prevent disability. Civilization diseases (CHC) are the diseases associated with the negative effects of living in conditions of highly developed civilization. The inclusion of CHC in literature most often exposes their determinants, among which physical activity (PA) is a very important health behavior.
Aim. The aim of the thesis is to obtain and present the declarations of nursing and physiotherapy students regarding knowledge of civilization diseases and the implementation of CHC physioprophy by regular and moderate PA.
Material and method. 152 PSW students in Biała Podlaska were tested, among them 82 from nursing and 70 from physiotherapy 70. The survey used a proprietary questionnaire on students’ knowledge about CHC and the use of CHC physioprophy by PA.
SPSS and tests: Phi and V Kramer test were used for statistical analysis.
Results. The results show a high level of students’ knowledge about CHC (from 71.1 to 90.8%) and low level of CHC physioprophylaxis by PA (from 36.2 to 59.2%).
Conclusions. 1. Nursing students more often than physiotherapy ones claim to have knowledge about diseases of the digestive, respiratory, immune and mental systems. Women more frequently than men indicated their knowledge, and in the case of diseases of the digestive system a statistically significant relationship occurred.
2. Subjects who did not know about CHC were more likely to indicate that they did not pursue physiotherapy. The relationship between not having knowledge and not physioprophylaxis was important in both groups in relation to diseases; motion, cancer, gastrointestinal, immune and neurological systems.
