Abstract
The aim of this article is to bring closer theoretical and practical aspects of S-E-T method. Norwegian physiotherapists have worked out this kinesitherapy method at the beginning of 90 of XX century. According to the creators point of view the main reason of functional dysfunction is weakness or decay of local, stabilizing muscles. This viewpoint is compatible with theoretical grounds of Brügger, Brunkow or Kleinvogelbach systems. Theoretical basis, manner of investigation and rules of exercising are described in this article. This exercises can be used both in acute as well as in chronic stages of locomotor dysfunctions. Stabilization and sensomotoric exercises making possible to regain or improve active control of activity of daily living are especially interesting.

Abstract

Kinesitherapeutic methods are in more and more frequent use by physiotherapists. The significance of treatment methods based on movement is indicated by, among other things, the popularity of various kinds of short courses and post-graduate training programs in this field. In the literature one can find many different treatment programs called „kinesitherapeutic”. However, given the fact that these methods have been popular for only a few decades, there has been to date no comprehensive systematization of this component of kinesitherapy. The present study describes the authors’ definition of treatment by movement and a classification of 47 kinesitherapeutic methods, using their theoretical foundations as the criterion for classification.

Abstract

The purpose of this article present the mechanisms that stabilize the lumbar spine. The passive and active control systems are discussed. Principles are also presented for conducting exercises oriented towards improving the function of the so-called “local muscles”, which are responsible for maintaining the proper positioning of each vertebra relative to the others. This feed-forward mechanism protects the locomotor system from dangerous overload in both static and dynamic conditions.
