DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG0DF232

Abstract
Milk consumption is one of the beverages options for the recovery phase. On the basis of the manufacturing procedure, raw and pasteurized cow’s milk are distinguished, but no one has investigated the effect of milk consumption on the hemoglobin levels of active people; some studies only analyze the effect of milk consumption on fitness and recovery advantages. Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the hemoglobin levels of active adolescents who consumed fresh cow’s milk versus pasteurized milk for three consecutive weeks. It is intended that the three-week treatment will have a good effect on hemoglobin levels, hence enhancing physical performance. Methods: Using a quasi-experimental study with a Pretest-Posttest Randomized-Groups Design for three consecutive weeks of milk feeding twice daily per group. Twenty-four university football players were divided into three groups using the approach of purposive sampling: the fresh cow’s milk (SSS) group, the pasteurized milk (SP) group, and the mineral water control group (K). The tool utilized to measure body composition is the Karada Scan Body Fat Omron HBF-356, while the Easy Touch GCHb is used to collect data on hemoglobin. Subjects participated voluntarily and were willing to have blood tested through capillaries before, immediately after, and 30 minutes after exercise. The analysis data uses paired t-test and ANOVA calculations to find differences within and between groups. Results: Hemoglobin immediately after exercise (0) in the post-test (three weeks after treatment) increased significantly (0.020 < 0.05) compared to hemoglobin before exercise (-) in the pre-test (before three weeks of intervention) in all three groups (fresh milk, pasteurized milk, and mineral water). Upon further examination, it was determined that there was a highly significant difference in hemoglobin levels (0.010 < 0.05) between fresh cow’s milk and pasteurized milk immediately after exercise (0) in the post-test (after three weeks of treatment). In contrast, there were no significant differences (p-value > 0.05) for the remaining calculations, both within and between subgroups. Conclusions: After three consecutive weeks of milk consumption, there was no significant variation in the amount of hemoglobin in the blood. To optimize the different elements that can affect the acceleration of the increase in hemoglobin in the blood, it is recommended that further study be conducted to intervene with milk and additional meal intake alongside physical activity.

Damian Durlak – Prawo własności intelektualnej w fizjoterapii. Fizjoterapia Polska 2023; 23(2); 134-136

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG0DF83B

Abstract
Intellectual property law applies to many spheres of everyday work activity. In many moments we reach for someone else’s inventions, and sometimes we ourselves become the author of literary, photographic or audiovisual works. Also, physiotherapists, during their work, can become authors of non-material works, e.g. photos or recordings of treatments performed according to their original design. Appropriate knowledge of intellectual property law can help to avoid problems related to the use of other people’s inventions in one’s own work, as well as to prevent unauthorized access and dissemination of created works. The aim of this article was to present briefly the issues related to intellectual property law, which also apply to physiotherapists.

Rizki Mulyawan, Sumaryanti, Sigit Nugroho, Roxana Dev Omar Dev – Effects of intense workout trials and milk intervention on decrease surrogate markers of metabolic syndrome. Fizjoterapia Polska 2023; 23(1); 203-211

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG07B425

Abstract
Surrogate markers of metabolic syndrome complications is high levels of glucose and/or cholesterol in the blood. The purpose of this research is to determine whether or not various intensity exercise has a beneficial impact on blood glucose and cholesterol levels in young adults. As a consequence, this study was investigated about how exercise’s influence on lowering the risk of metabolic diseases may be moderated by other factors, including by milk intake. Studies were conducted using a quasi-experimental, single-blind research design. Thirty-five participants were randomly assigned to one of four groups: control (C), moderate intensity (M), high intensity (H), or intermittent (I). The Sysmex XN-1000 is used for checking blood content, while the Cobas Pro is used to analyze blood chemistry in the lab. Using tools like the analysis of variance (ANOVA), the Mann-Whitney test, and the Pearson correlation coefficient, researchers may gauge the importance of inherent correlations and examine how group-level phenomena and interactions affect those coefficients. To sum up, we found that there was a statistically significant difference in glucose levels between the control group and the experimental group (p = 0.012 < 0.05), yet this difference was accompanied by a negative trend showing a rise in content. Also, there was a favorable tendency toward lower glucose and cholesterol levels across all compositions, while it was not statistically significant (p value > 0.05). To sum up, practically all of the variables point to a favorable tendency that that does not statistically significant – in the effect of exercise intensity combined with milk consumption. Exercise and milk intervention have been shown to have positive impacts, but further investigation or longer training sessions are needed to determine their true magnitude. Keywords

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG07B914

Abstract
Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is one of the most common ailments associated with the human musculoskeletal system, characterised by the presence of the so-called trigger points (TrP – trigger point; MTrPs – myofascial trigger points). The International Association for the Study of Pain indicates that MPS may affect approximately one-third of people with chronic musculoskeletal pain, and that there is a lack of appropriate classification which can be attributed to a misunderstanding and/or misinterpretation of the pathophysiology. Given the diverse causes of pain syndromes in myofascial structures, it is vital to properly select and integrate therapeutic methods. The scientific literature indicates that treatment programmes should include a variety of manual therapy methods and rehabilitation exercises. Trigger point therapies, such as dry needling or dry cupping, are also widely used. At the heart of the success of rehabilitation programmes, in the opinion of the authors of this publication, is their multimodality, i.e. selection of therapeutic methods based on the cause of the pain, providing for measurable, reproducible diagnostic methods in therapy.
Aim of the study. The aim of this study is to analyse and infer conclusions on multimodal myofascial pain therapy programmes.
Material and methods. Given the complex research problem set as the aim, the study was carried out through a literature review in terms of two criteria:
Criterion I (C I): analysis of the literature on the etiology and pathogenesis of myofascial pain (i.e. causes and triggers, symptoms, social and environmental factors determining the onset of MPS), diagnostic procedures (initial diagnosis and ongoing monitoring of treatment outcomes), and therapeutic methods used in the course of MPS.
Criterion II (C II): a literature study of research publications addressing multimodal programmes for myofascial pain therapy, with their qualitative evaluation using the modified PEDro scale, and empirical testing of hypotheses based on the literature study and the analysis made in Part I.
Data sources: PubMed, SCOPUS, Science Direct, MEDLINE, PEDro, Cochrane, Embase, Web of Science Core Collection, Google Scholar electronic databases were searched systematically, restricting the languages to English and German only.
Results. The analysis of the literature showed that the causes, symptoms and associations of myofascial pain have been described in detail. There are also numerous reports on a variety of therapeutic methods, together with a precisely described methodology for their implementation. It is not uncommon to recommend combining methods into multimodal programmes, which unfortunately does not mean that there are many such programmes or that studies on MPS are consistent. The literature study on multimodal treatment programmes for MPS revealed that there is no correlation between its pathogenesis and a purposeful selection of specific therapeutic methods. In a small number of cases, a complex etiopathogenesis led to the formation of multidisciplinary teams. This may be associated with the absence of strict recommendations on the diagnostic methods applicable to the assessment of MPS.
Conclusions. 1. Multimodal programmes for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain, notably MPS and MTrPs, should include a detailed and comprehensive diagnosis (structural, biochemical, psycho-emotional) which should serve as the basis for the formation of interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams. 2. Musculoskeletal diagnosis, in addition to radiological assessment, should include measurable techniques of postural and functional assessment (such as pedobarography, wearable sensors, assisted anthropometry, i.e. photogrammetry, videogrammetry, etc.), aimed primarily at the ongoing assessment of posture. 3. The choice of therapeutic methods and patient education should be based on the causes of the patient’s pain, taking into account systemic diseases, postural defects, lifestyle and psycho-emotional state. 4. Scientific research in multimodal treatment programmes should be carried out in randomised groups, with due attention to the methodologies of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and group selection.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG07B3FB

Streszczenie
Introduction. Pain in the cervical spine affects about 22-70% of the population and the incidence of pain increases with age. Out of different types of therapies, most patients prefer a massage aimed at normalizing muscle tension and reducing pain. However, a comprehensive approach to a patient according to the Kinetic Control concept allows for the assessment of uncontrolled motion and enables the analysis of motion and its function. The assessment of motor errors as well as the re-education of muscle function is an important element in improving the range of motion and reducing pain in the cervical part of the spine.
Aim. Assessment of the impact of classical massage and central stabilization exercises on the quality of life of people with cervical spine pain.
Material and methods. The study covered 40 people (62,5% women, 37,5% men) aged 20 – 70 year who suffered from pain in the cervical spine. Two groups of 20 were formed. Group I was subjected to a series of classical massage, Group II performed exercises of central stabilization. The impact of both therapies was assessed by means of: the author’s own survey, the VAS scale, the NDI-PL form, and the measurement of the range of motion in the cervical spine. Quality of life was assessed using a 100-degree scale.
Results. VAS and NDI scores in both groups are significantly lower after treatment (p < 0,01), but it cannot be concluded that one form of therapy has had a better effect. The range of spine motion which was evaluated in the cervical segment significantly increased (p < 0,01) in both groups. It was noted that in terms of extension, central stabilization exercises proved to be more effective – the scope of extension increased on average by 1,3 units after exercises, whereas after massages only by 0,7 units (p = 0,045). Both therapies demonstrated effectiveness in the domain of general health (p = 0,54) – both massages and exercises (p = 0,01) brought patients a significant improvement.
Conclusions. Both therapies are effective in fighting cervical spine pain, however, better results were obtained in the group performing central stabilization exercises. The quality of life increased significantly in both groups of patients.
