Fizjoterapia Polska 2021; 21(1); 54-61

Abstract
Introduction. Contemporary sports physiotherapy has various methods of treating patients. Currently, Kinesiology Taping has become one of the most popular and inherent prophylactic methods supporting treatment after injuries within the musculoskeletal system. This technique allows the space between the skin and the fascia to be opened, which allows for better microcirculation and thus faster regeneration processes.
Objective. The objective of the study was to assess the pain and the results of Kinesiology Taping in the studied volleyball players after injuries of various parts of the body.
Materials and method. The study assessed the effect of Kinesiology Taping as a physiotherapeutic method that is commonly used after injuries in professional volleyball players. The study covered 72 players diagnosed with a motor organ dysfunction that occurred during physical activity related to practicing a given discipline.
Results. The study showed the relationship between the change in pain intensity assessed using the VAS scale and the application of Kinesiology Taping (Student’s t-test). The test showed a relationship between the use of taping and the reduction of pain, which was statistically significant for all injured parts of the body (p < 0.05).
Conclusions. In the assessment of the studied volleyball players, Kinesiology Taping of the areas of the body presented in the study was effective. There was a decrease in the value of pain assessed according to the scale.

Abstract

Purpose. The purpose of the study is to assess the effects of dynamic taping (DT) using a smart neurological robot Fourier M2 in patients after cerebral stroke with hemiparesis.
Materials and methods. The study included 28 patients (10 women and 17 men, average age: 63, 48) after ischemic cerebral stroke with hemiparesis (14 left-sided, 13 right-sided) who expressed their informed consent for participation in the study. The patients were divided into groups using the ALEA software, with its own randomization algorithm, into group TG and CG – 14 participants in each. In order to conduct the study, there was used the Fourier M2 smart rehabilitation robot designed for diagnostics and therapy of upper limbs.
Results and conclusions. The study demonstrated statistically relevant effects on the 1st, 3rd and 4th day of the study in the form of a percentage improvement in active movement in the TG group as a result of application of dynamic taping.
The assessment of the remaining study results demonstrated both the effects of dynamic taping and the effects of the therapy with the use of a neurological robot in patients after cerebral stroke with hemiparesis. The assessment of those effects showed the therapy effects were comparable in both groups.
The Fourier M2 smart robot is s useful and objective tool for diagnostics, therapy and assessment of the effects of physical therapy in patients after cerebral stroke with upper limb dysfunction.

Wybrane właściwości mechaniczne plastrów stosowanych w metodzie plastrowania dynamicznego – badanie w oparciu o pojedynczo ślepą próbę

Wojciech Garczyński

W. Garczyński – Selected mechanical properties of tapes used in kinesiology taping method – single blind test. FP 2017; 17(3); 74-81

Abstract

Introduction. Kinesiology Taping is a popular method used not only by physiotherapists and physicians, but also by trainers, due to the lack of patient involvement and the economic factor. Numerous scientific publications on kinesiotaping are based on a randomized, usually double-blind tests. Unfortunately, in most scientific articles there is no information on the tape used in the tests, which makes it impossible to repeat the test and obtain the clinical response proven by the authors.
Aim of the tests. The implication for the tests was the comparison of several types of tapes used in dynamic taping in terms of selected mechanical properties.
Material and methods. Seven types of tapes were used for the tests: Nitto Denko, Acu Top, Cure Tape, Nastara, Kinesio Tex Gold, Novama, 3NS Tex. Instron E 3000 endurance machine was used for testing of mechanical properties. Two types of tests were carried out in the tape testing: monotonic stretching test and cyclic stretching test. The obtained results were analyzed using Office Excel 2010 and Statistica 12.
Results. Nitto Denko (154.90 N) and Novama (118.41 N) tapes had the highest static strength, while Acu Top (25.19 N) and 3NS Tex (18.54 N) tapes had the lowest static strength. The results from the cyclic stretching test showed higher values of force necessary for the Nitto Denko and Novam tapes (6.78 and 19.97 N, respectively). The lowest force needed for tape stretching was shown by 3NS Tex and Nastara tapes (3.95 and 4.68 N, respectively). The level of difference between the tested tapes was statistically significant (p < 0.001).
Conclusions. The tapes available on the Polish market differ in terms of mechanical properties.

Abstract

Introduction. One of the ways to treat patients with intestinal passage obstruction due to adhesions after surgery can be physical therapy with the use of kinesiology taping.
Aim. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of kinesiology taping (KT) in the normalization of intestinal transit and assessment of hydrogen molecules exhaled by patients.
Material and methods . The study involved 20 patients (15 women, 5 men, average age 48.85 years) with the disorder of intestinal passage obstruction due to adhesions after surgery. Patients were divided randomly into test group BA (12 women, 4 men, average age, 47.67 years) and control KO (3 women, 1 man, average age 54.25). InBA group elastic therapeutic tape was applied to improve the intestinal transit. InKOgroup the placeboeffect was used (applications without therapeutic relevance). Hydrogen molecules in exhaledairtestwas used to evaluate the effects of kinesiology tapingapplications. Additionally, the number of defecation per day was assessed and stool form scale by Boston was used. All test were carried out prior to application and at 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 24 day after application of KT. The level of hydrogen molecules in exhaled air was checked before the KTapplication and in the 5 and 15 day after application of KT.
Results. The study demonstrated a statistically significant increase in the number of defecation per day, normalization of stool consistency and reductionof hydrogen molecules in in exhaled air in BA group.
Conclusions. The results shown effectiveness of kinesiology taping in the process of digestion and intestinal passage normalization.
