Abstract:
Aim. This study aimed to compare the effects of high‑volume high‑intensity interval training (HV‑HIIT), low‑volume high‑intensity interval training (LV‑HIIT), and moderate‑intensity continuous training (MICT) on regional body fatness and serum lipids in adult obese women.
Methods. Forty‑six women with obesity and dyslipidemia completed this study. They were randomly allocated to HV‑HIIT protocol (n = 15), LV‑HIIT protocol (n = 14), and MICT protocol (n = 17). The protocols were performed three days a week for eight weeks. Measurements included body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), sub-total fat, leg fat, trunk fat, arm fat, lean mass, fat-free mass, and bone mineral content via DXA, self-paced maximal cycle test for HRmax determination, and serum lipids (TC, HDL, LDL, TG).
Results. HV‑HIIT led to significantly greater improvements in HRmax, body fat measures, TC, and HDL compared to the other protocols (p < 0.05). Both LV‑HIIT and MICT were effective in reducing TC, but LV‑HIIT showed better results for improving HDL (p < 0.05).
Conclusion. HV‑HIIT was the most effective for reducing body fat and improving TC and HDL, while LV‑HIIT was superior to MICT in improving HDL.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG56086EL

Abstract
Background. Individuals experiencing irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are frequently recommended to increase their physical activity to mitigate the symptoms and enhance their quality of life (QOL). Purpose. To compare the impacts of mild to moderate intensity aerobic treadmill exercise program versus acupuncture on symptoms and QOL in IBS women. Methods. Ninety women diagnosed with mild to moderate chronic IBS per ROME III criteria participated in this study. They were randomly assigned to three equal groups (n = 30) and followed a 12-week treatment program consisting of three sessions per week. Group A followed a treadmill exercise accompanied by a low-FODMAP diet, Group B received acupuncture along with a low-FODMAP diet, and Group C followed only the low-FODMAP diet. The three groups completed the IBS-Severity Scoring System (IBS-SSS), the IBS-Quality-of-Life Scale (IBS-QOL), and the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) before and after treatment. Results. After the 12-week treatment period, the results indicated significant differences among the three groups. Group A demonstrated significantly superior improvements across all outcome measures when compared to both Group B and Group C (p < 0.05). In addition, Group B exhibited significantly greater improvements in all outcome measures relative to Group C (p < 0.05). Conclusion. A combination of treadmill aerobic exercise and a low-FODMAP diet may be more beneficial for relieving symptoms and QOL in IBS women compared to acupuncture combined with a low-FODMAP diet or diet alone.

Abstract
Purpose. Determination of Electronic Balance Board effect on Balance in Women in their postmenopausal period was the aim of this study. Subjects and Methods. Our study design was a randomized, single blind controlled trial. A total of 40 sedentary, medically stable women in their postmenopausal stage complained of poor life quality. The range of the participated women ranged between 50 to 65 years that were randomly allocated into 2 equal number groups: group (A), that participate in the electronic balance board training program in addition to balance rehabilitation program and aerobic exercise, and group (B), which received balance rehabilitation program and aerobic exercise. Each group received 3 sessions weekly for one month. The stability index, AP index and ML index was recorded before and after the intervention. Results. There were a significant reduction in overall stability index, AP index and ML index in group A in compared to group B at the stage of post treatment. Conclusion. A program of four weeks’ electronic balance board besides balance rehabilitation program and aerobic exercise yield improvement in the balance of the Biodex Balance System than a balance rehabilitation program alone in treating problems of postmenopausal balance.
