Abstract
Running culture has spread throughout the world, as evidenced by various running events in many regions, including 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon categories. Every runner faces the risk of injury, one of the most common being shin splints. Shin splints are frequently experienced by runners and are caused by repetitive running on hard surfaces or excessive and forceful use of the lower-leg flexor muscles.
When an injury occurs, physical fitness naturally decreases, particularly the components related to health-related physical fitness. In the post-injury phase, the most important components are cardiopulmonary endurance and flexibility. Cardiopulmonary endurance supports the body’s ability to supply oxygen efficiently, while flexibility enables free and effective joint movement. Selecting the appropriate therapy during and after an injury is key to restoring a runner’s performance.
This study used a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The population consisted of 96 runners from a running community in Yogyakarta. The sampling method was purposive sampling, based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in a sample of 30 participants. The intervention was administered 24 times at a frequency of four sessions per week. The instruments used in this study were the 12-minute run (Cooper test) to measure cardiopulmonary endurance and a goniometer to assess joint flexibility.
The results of the study show that the exercise therapy program significantly improved cardiopulmonary endurance, with a 16.41% increase in running performance, and enhanced knee and ankle range of motion (ROM), with an average ROM improvement of 41.52%. Exercise therapy using body weight can improve cardiopulmonary endurance and flexibility after a shin splint injury.

Muhammad Nasihul Waffak, Ervin Arifianti, Ali Satia Graha – HIIT vs continuous training in obesity prevention –  Fizjoterapia Polska 2024; 24(3); 363-366

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG020A8PL

Abstract:
This research discusses the role of training using the High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Continuous Training models with their influence in preventing weight gain or preventing obesity.
Material and Methods. The research used male Wistar animals aged 2 to 3 months with a total of 27 Wistar, HIIT (n = 9), Continuous (n = 9), Control (n = 9). The HIIT training protocol uses an intensity of 90‑100% of the total maximum baseline speed with intervals of 1:1 (2 minutes on: 2 minutes off) for 15 minutes. Continuous training uses an intensity of 50‑70% of the baseline speed for 30 minutes. Controls were not given any treatment at all. The exercise procedure uses a special Wistar treadmill and the exercise is carried out for 6 weeks. Body weight was measured using a WRT type scale. Data were presented descriptively and tested pre‑post body weight differences using the paired sample T-test and tested body weight between groups using ANOVA.
Result. The HIIT group experienced an increase in body weight of 49%. In the Continuous group, there was a difference between pre and post body weight which increased by 50%. In the control group, there was also a significant difference between pre and post body weight, which increased by 70%. Meanwhile, in the final body weight between groups compared with control, there was also a significant difference between HIIT vs Control (P = 0.008), Continuous vs Control (P = 0.016).
Conclusion. HIIT and continuous training models can be used as alternatives to prevent weight gain. This exercise model has the same effect in terms of preventing weight gain.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG5608Y6U

Abstract
To shed light on the types, frequencies, and contributing causes of injuries in the field of physical education, this study explores the complex dynamics of injuries in this setting. The research offered significant insights that support improving safety procedures and maximizing the learning environment in physical education settings by carefully examining the body of existing literature. This research aimed to conduct a systematic literature review on injuries in the context of physical education. The study employed a systematic literature review method following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. A total of 15 articles published between 2019 and 2023 was included in the literature review, sourced from PubMed, ERIC, and EBSCO. The data collection involved literature search using Boolean operators with keywords “injuries in physical education” and “injury prevention,” as well as the establishment of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using a qualitative approach. The research encompassed various topics such as joint injuries, fall-related injuries, compliance with physical activity guidelines, fatigue, injury prevalence, and injury prevention behaviors. The research method in the included studies encompassed surveys, randomized control trials (RCTs), experiments, cohort studies, quasi-experiments, observational studies, and ex post facto studies. In conclusion, injuries in the context of physical education were serious issued that could impact the health and well-being of students. It is crucial to understand the types and causes of injuries to plan the prevention measures among students. Physical education teachers need training in injury prevention, especially during instructional activities, and students should be educated about safe behaviors.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG2EF8XT7

Abstract
Academic Procrastination is an alarming phenomenon in education sector nowadays. It would be a big obstacle in the learning process especially for high school students.  The aim of this research is to understand the influence and relationship between the interest of doing physical exercises and psychological well-being to procrastination. The population of this research were 355 students of XI grade of SMAN 1 Muntilan.Using purposive sampling, 101 students were obtained as the sample. Data analysis technique using product moment correlation and linear regression with the interest in doing physical exercises (X1) and psychological well-being (X2) as independent variables, and procrastination (Y) as the dependent variable. The results show that almost all of students (80%) have a trend to do academic procrastination. This is shown  by 67.3% of students having moderate procrastination and 16.8% of students having high procrastination behavior. There is a negative correlation between the interest in doing physical exercises and psychological well-being with procrastination, where the correlation coefficients are −0.554 and −0.164, respectively. A negative correlation can be interpreted if an increase in one variable is associated with a decrease in another variable in this context, namely when the physical exercise and psychological well-being variables increase, there is a decrease in students’ tendency to engage in procrastination behavior. Meanwhile in regression analysis with 5% significant level shows only interest of doing physical exercises that significant influencing procrastination with p-value = 0.000.

Abstract
The high intensity of running athletes’ training to overtraining and athletes who are not optimal even forget to do stretching and cooling down causes shin splints injuries. This certainly interferes with the performance of athletes during training and competitions. This study aims to determine the effect of massage therapy and exercise therapy on the recovery of shin splint injuries in female long-distance runners in the master category. This type of research uses a quasi-experimental approach with a One-Control Group Pretest-Postest Design research design. The data collection technique used tests and measurements with a goniometer to measure the range of motion of the joints and a pain scale to determine the level of pain. The population in this study were female marathon athletes aged 42 years and over. The data analysis technique used the paired t-test after previously going through the normality test and homogeneity test. The results showed that there were significant differences in the treatment of massage therapy and exercise therapy, namely decreased pain and increased joint ROM with a value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05).
