Abstract
Introduction. The risk of falls in the young adult population increases with age and low physical activity levels. Reduced activity can lead to muscle mass loss and impaired balance. Modified hybrid training systems and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) with the Russian protocol can be utilized to improve balance.
Aim of the study. To evaluate the effects of modified hybrid training systems and NMES with the Russian protocol on static and dynamic balance in untrained healthy subjects.
Materials and methods. The study involved 24 healthy men aged 18–40 years, divided into two groups: the modified hybrid training group (12 participants) and the NMES-only group using the Russian protocol (12 participants). The intervention was conducted three times per week for four weeks.
Results. Significant improvements in static balance (OLS) were observed for both dominant and non-dominant legs (p < 0.05) in the modified hybrid training group. In the NMES group, significant improvement was observed only in the dominant leg (p = 0.02). For the dynamic balance test (SEBT), significant improvements were recorded in the dominant leg for anterior and posterolateral directions (p < 0.05), and in the non-dominant leg for the anterior direction (p < 0.05). In the NMES group, significant improvements were observed in all directions for both legs (p < 0.05). No significant differences were found between the two groups.
Conclusion. Both modified hybrid strength training and NMES were effective in improving static and dynamic balance in healthy subjects, with no significant differences between the two methods.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZGA431GV4N

Abstract
Introduction. Sports and physical activity are increasingly popular among individuals with cerebral palsy (CP), both in professional and rehabilitation contexts. Muscle imbalances, reduced joint mobility, and spasticity increase the risk of limb injuries and generally result in reduced agility in CP athletes. Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) is a stretching technique that has been shown to improve muscle flexibility, peak torque, and both active (AROM) and passive (PROM) range of motion. PNF is widely used in clinical settings to improve ROM and muscle strength in individuals with CP.
Objective. To examine the effect of additional PNF stretching exercises combined with routine stretching on agility in athletes with CP.
Methods. The study was conducted at the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia Training Center. A total of 24 CP athletes were randomly assigned to two groups: the treatment group (n = 12) received routine stretching plus PNF three times a week for four weeks; the control group (n = 12) received only routine stretching. Agility was assessed using the Modified Agility Test before and after the intervention.
Results. Significant improvements in Modified Agility Test times were observed in both groups: treatment group (p = 0.00), control group (p = 0.02). The treatment group demonstrated a greater effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.43) compared to the control group (Cohen’s d = 0.79). The delta difference in agility scores between the groups was statistically significant.
Conclusion. The addition of PNF-based stretching exercises significantly improves agility performance in athletes with CP, as reflected in their Modified Agility Test results.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG7D19AIA4

Abstract
Introduction. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of the International Scientific Exercise Guidelines on illness perception in patients with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI).
Methods. Sixteen patients with chronic SCI (AIS B/C/D, NLI at T1 or lower) were randomized into treatment and control groups. The treatment group received exercise interventions based on the International Scientific Exercise Guidelines for 12 weeks,  including 20 minutes of moderate-intensity cardiovascular fitness exercises twice a week, followed by three sets of shoulder muscle strengthening exercises at home twice a week. The control group received no specific intervention and continued with their usual daily activities, but were allowed to perform exercises other than those outlined in the guidelines. The Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire  (B-IPQ) score was analyzed before and after the intervention.
Results. A significant improvement in the B-IPQ score was observed in the treatment group (p = 0.028) after the intervention. The difference (Δ) in B-IPQ scores between the two groups was also significant (p = 0.008).
Conclusion. A 12-week exercise program based on the International Scientific Exercise Guidelines can improve illness perception in patients with chronic SCI (AIS B/C/D, NLI T1 or lower).

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG7D19MKQJ

Abstract
Introduction. This study analyzes changes in dynamic balance among sedentary male adolescents following 8 weeks of Asian squat exercise.
Methods. This study was designed as a single-blind, randomized controlled trial. A total of 24 sedentary male students were randomly assigned to either the treatment group (n = 12), which performed Asian squat exercises three times per week for eight weeks, or the control group (n = 12), which did not receive any intervention. The outcome was measured using the Four-Square Step Test (FSST) before and after the intervention.
Results. A significant improvement in FSST results was observed in the treatment group at week 4 (p = 0.004) and week 8 (p < 0.001) after the intervention. At the end of the eight weeks, the treatment group showed a statistically significant improvement compared to the control group (p = 0.005), with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.29).
Conclusion. Eight weeks of Asian squat training is an effective and safe exercise to enhance dynamic balance in sedentary male adolescents.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG020CXJ35

Abstract Introduction. Working in a seated position for an extended period can lead to hamstring stiffness. Objective. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Muscle Energy Technique (MET) and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) exercises in sedentary individuals experiencing hamstring tightness. Material and Methods. Thirty-eight sedentary individuals with hamstring tightness (males, aged 35 – 55 years) were randomly assigned to group 1 (MET, n = 19), which performed MET exercises, or group 2 (PNF, n = 19), which performed PNF exercises. Both exercise interventions were conducted 5 times per week for two weeks. Hamstring length was measured using the active knee extension (AKE) test, and pain during the AKE test was assessed using a visual analogue scale (VAS). Results. The statistical analysis of AKE revealed a significant effect of time (p < 0.001) and group (p = 0.022). However, there was no significant interaction between time and group (p = 0.144). Further post-hoc analysis demonstrated a notable improvement in AKE from baseline in both groups. Additionally, the analysis of VAS showed a significant interaction between time and group (p = 0.016), as well as a significant effect of time (p < 0.001), but not for the effect of group (p = 0.778). Post-hoc analysis revealed a significant improvement in VAS from baseline in both groups, with greater improvement observed in the PNF group (p = 0.016). Conclusion. Both MET and PNF exercise interventions appeared to be equally effective in increasing hamstring extensibility; however, PNF exercises reduced pain more significantly during maximal hamstring extension.
