Sensor-based footwork instrument for the martial art of Tarung Derajat: Validity and reliability

Abstract
Although instruments to measure footwork ability in sports performance have been investigated in previous studies, an instrument relevant to the movement characteristics of Tarung Derajat martial arts has not been found. The purpose of this study was to develop a sensor-based footwork instrument for Tarung Derajat martial arts. This study began with determining the elements of the instrument, design, selection of physical elements to be measured, sensor device components, assembly of the device, characterization of the relevance of movement in Tarung Derajat martial arts, and testing. The feasibility test of the device involved 4 experts (instrumentation, sports measurement tests, Tarung Derajat martial arts, and information technology) and 6 Tarung Derajat martial arts athletes (aged 18.53 ± 0.52 years). Then the test-retest reliability involved 33 Tarung Derajat martial arts athletes, consisting of male (n = 19; aged 19.21 ± 0.71 years) and female (n = 14; aged 18.79 ± 0.80 years). Data were analyzed using percentages, correlations, and t-tests. The results of the study showed that the sensor-based footwork instrument was very feasible to be used for Tarung Derajat martial arts, with a percentage of 86.50. The results of the test-retest reliability showed a high correlation coefficient (n = 33; r = 0.897; Sig. < 0.05; n = 19; r = 0.802; Sig. < 0.05; n = 14; r = 0.823;            Sig. < 0.05). Then, the t-test showed that there was no significant difference in the results of the footwork ability test between male and female participants (Sig. > 0.05). Field trials with wider subjects are needed in future research, with more refined tool displays and designs.

Abstract
This study aims to analyze rosella flower extract supplementation on superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels after physical activity. This experimental research uses a pre- and post-control group design. Subjects were selected using a purposive sampling technique. A total of 20 healthy men aged 19–25 years participated in this study and were divided into two groups, namely group K1 with a placebo and group K2 with rosella flower extract at a dose of 500 mg. Data collection began with gathering data on subject characteristics. Next, the subjects were asked to warm up and perform physical activity in the form of running 2400 meters at moderate intensity. One hour after running 2400 meters, blood was drawn for a pre-test to measure SOD levels. Then, supplementation interventions were administered according to the respective groups: a placebo for K1 and rosella flower extract at a dose of 500 mg for K2. Sixty minutes after the supplementation intervention, a post-test blood draw was conducted. The study’s findings demonstrated that administering 500 mg of rosella flower extract after physical exercise significantly increased superoxide dismutase levels (p < 0.05*). Furthermore, there was also a notable rise in the control group’s superoxide dismutase levels (p < 0.05*). It can be concluded that a physiological increase in SOD levels is a result of moderately intense physical activity. However, administering rosella flower extract after physical exercise is also recommended as an additional supplement to further boost the body’s antioxidant levels and maintain health.

Abstract:
Background. Previous studies have examined the application and benefits of sensors, both in sports and health. Unfortunately, the design of sensor-based isometric contraction examination tools after ankle sprain injuries and ankle instability is still rarely carried out.
Purpose. The aim of this research is to design a sensor-based isometric contraction examination tool after ankle sprain injury and ankle instability.
Material and Methods. The design used is research and development involving experts, namely instrumentation physics, sports physiology, and physiotherapy to assess the suitability of the tool before field trials. The tool developed is the “Isometric Contractions Test”, which is designed in the form of a box with dimensions of 10 cm (height) x 10 cm (width) x 25 cm (length). Various electronic components are also used, such as Arduino Pro Mini, Flexi Sensors, switch buttons, and OLED LCD as digital reading output. A total of 10 participants aged 18-23 years participated voluntarily for the field trial. Participants were men and women who had experienced sub-acute or chronic ankle sprains and ankle instability. The data obtained were analyzed using the correlation method.
Result. The results of this study report that this sensor-based isometric contraction examination tool is valid, reliable, effective, and practical in detecting and treating post-injury healing of ankle sprains and ankle instability.
Conclusions. This tool can be used to assist physiotherapists in carrying out observations and evaluations to treat healing quickly and precisely, both in athletes and non-athletes.

Effectiveness of aerobic exercise intervention and butterfly pea flower tea on reducing blood glucose levels in type II diabetes mellitus patients

Abstract:
The aim of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of the combination of aerobic exercise and butterfly pea flower tea as a therapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus. This research uses experimental research methods with pre and post design. This research uses only one group as a sign of the existence of a comparison group. A total of 36 adult women suffering from Type II Diabetes Mellitus participated in this study. The inclusion criteria in this study were women suffering from type II diabetes mellitus. The exclusion criteria in this study were elderly women. The initial procedure in this research is preparing research administration. Next, screen respondents who are research subjects based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and fill out Informed Consent. Subjects took pre‑test data to measure blood glucose levels. Next, the intervention was carried out within 4 weeks and aerobic exercise treatment was carried out 8 times (2x/week) and butterfly pea flower tea intervention for Type II Diabetes Mellitus sufferers. Telang flower tea is packaged in the form of tea bags which already have BPOM. Subjects collected post‑test data to measure blood glucose levels. Blood glucose levels are measured using a Point Of Care Testing (POCT) device. The first statistical analysis in this research is a descriptive test to obtain the mean, standard deviation and standard error. Next, the normality test was carried out using the Shapiro‑Wilk method, if the data was normally distributed, a difference test was carried out using the paired t test, but if the data was not normally distributed then a difference test was carried out using the Wilcoxon signed rank test. The results of this study report that providing aerobic exercise and butterfly pea flower tea intervention for 4 weeks was able to significantly reduce blood glucose levels in DM sufferers. In this case, aerobic exercise and butterfly pea flower tea are categorized as effective in reducing blood glucose levels in people with type II diabetes mellitus. We hope that future research will examine the effects of exercise with varying intensity and giving butterfly pea flower tea.

Abstract
This research aims to design a sensor-based tool for checking bilateral leg muscle circumference balance in athletes. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) design. This research involved 3 experts who were competent in their fields, namely an instrumentation physicist, a physiotherapist and a sports physiologist, whose aim was at the validation test stage, to find out the weaknesses and strengths of the product that had been designed. After carrying out the validation test stage, the resulting product will be tested for use in the field. A total of 10 men who were selected using the Purposive Sampling technique with ages ranging from 20 to 28 years. The data obtained was tested using the r-correlation method. The main results of our research report that this sensor-based bilateral leg muscle circumference balance examination tool is valid, practical, effective, and reliable as a measuring tool for leg muscle circumference balance examination. This tool proves highly beneficial for healthcare professionals, particularly sports physiotherapists, by aiding in muscle balance assessments.

Abstract
The aim of this research is to investigate and evaluate various research related to Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) in Indonesia, starting from the number of publications per year, research design to data analysis techniques. This research is a bibliometric analysis and systematic review. Article searches were carried out in sports journals in Indonesia, which are accredited by the Science and Technology Index (SINTA). The keywords used are motor skills, fundamental movement skills, fundamental motor skills and locomotor. A total of 127 articles published from 2011 to August 2022 were ana,lyzed according to the inclusion criteria, namely articles investigating FMS with early childhood and elementary school subjects. These findings show that publications related to FMS have increased from year to year. Quantitative research is the most commonly used (84 studies), with research subjects respectively being higher grade elementary school students (38 studies), lower grade students (36 studies) and early childhood (32 studies). The treatments often used to investigate FMS are game forms and models (51 studies). Meanwhile, the instruments and data analysis that are often used are tests (60 studies) and percentages (58 studies). In conclusion, it is important for researchers to increase the diversity of research types, supporting subjects, treatments, and selecting appropriate data analysis techniques to investigate FMS.
