Abstract
Background. Mental health issues are a serious threat to adolescents. Physical activity is a solution to the threat of mental health problems, but ignorance of the dosage of physical activity means that the benefits obtained are not maximized and may even worsen mental disorders experienced by adolescents. The right dose of physical activity is important to pay attention to. Although there has been a lot of research on physical activity in mental health management in adolescents, the dosage of physical activity to manage mental disorders in adolescents is still unclear.
Study objectives. The purpose of this study is to provide a perspective on the mechanism and synthesize existing research evidence regarding the dose of physical activity in the management of mental health in adolescents.
Materials and methods. A systematic literature review with PRISMA guidelines was applied in this narrative review study. The identification of the initial data search for this study started from the Google Scholar database using citations from the range of 2015–2025. This was followed by the identification of the abstract and the title of the article. Then screening was carried out by checking all texts to determine eligible articles according to the criteria, in order to select appropriate articles ready to be synthesized.
Results. Sixteen articles were obtained that met the study criteria regarding physical activity to manage basic mental problems, including stress, anxiety, depression, and cognitive problems. The subjects’ age range was 10–24 years. The studies applied interventions and recorded the type, intensity, duration, and frequency of physical activity, and used experimental methods.
Conclusion. The aspect of neuroplasticity is one of the theoretical bases for adolescent mental improvement due to physiological adaptations obtained from external stimuli or doses of physical activity. Moderate to high intensity aerobic and multicomponent physical activity, with a duration of twenty to sixty minutes and a frequency of three times a week for no more than twelve weeks, is likely to be more effective for the management of mental disorders in adolescents.

Abstract
This research aims to examine the connection between physical activity, mental health, and quality of life through a systematic review of scholarly literature. The approach used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), leveraging the Scopus database, employing a keyword search strategy relevant to the topic, and following PRISMA guidelines. Articles published from 2020 to 2024 that focus on physical activity and mental health within Q1-Q2 percentile indices were screened. Out of the 89 articles identified, 28 met the inclusion criteria and were relevant to the topic. The analysis of these studies reveals that increased physical activity is associated with a reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety, and an improvement in mental well-being and quality of life. Additionally, the study notes variations in measurement methods, such as the use of accelerometers and different mental health questionnaires. These findings support the development of evidence-based interventions to enhance mental well-being through physical activity, especially among children, adolescents, and the elderly. However, the study identifies challenges related to measurement methods and intervention duration, indicating a need for further research to develop more comprehensive and practical recommendations.

Effect of giving rosella flower extract (hibiscus sabdariffa) after physical exercise on uric acid levels in healthy men

Abstract
The aim of this study was to test whether rosella flower extract can reduce uric acid levels after physical activity. Pre- and post-control groups were used in this experimental investigation. Purposive sampling was used to select the individuals, and once they were chosen, they were split into two groups: the treatment group (P) received 500 mg of rosella flower extract, and the control group (K) received a placebo. A total of 20 healthy men aged 19-25 years participated in this study. Data collection was carried out for 1 day starting with collecting data on subject characteristics. After that, the subjects were asked to warm up. Physical activity was carried out afterwards. The activity included running 2400 meters with moderate intensity. Then the baseline data was taken by checking uric acid levels. Then the samples were given a placebo and rosella flower extract to drink directly. 60 minutes later the post-test uric acid level data was taken. The results of this study showed that there was a decrease in uric acid levels in both the control and treatment groups. However, a significant decrease occurred in the group with 500 mg of rosella flower extract intervention. Given its high antioxidant content, we recommend consuming roselle flower extract as an additional supplement after exercise.

Investigating the relationship between physical activity and depression level with stroke recurrences: An observational cross-sectional study

Abstract:
Background. The complex relationship between physical health and mental well-being, especially for those who have undergone a stroke, is increasingly acknowledged. It is crucial to include interventions that emphasize physical activity as a crucial element in successful stroke rehabilitation and preventing subsequent strokes. This research aimed to evaluate the relationship between physical activity and depression levels with stroke recurrences.
Method. This cross-sectional investigation enrolled 60 patients aged between 30 and 85 years, all receiving outpatient stroke treatment in a hospital in Indonesia. Stroke recurrence was defined as experiencing a second stroke within three months after the initial stroke. Among the total participants, 12 had experienced recurrent strokes, while 48 had not. Data on physical activity and depression levels were gathered using the IPAQ short form and PHQ-9 instruments. Simple logistic regression was conducted to assess the association between physical activity and depression levels with stroke recurrence, adjusting for age and sex.
Result. Patients with higher physical activity levels were less likely to experience recurrent strokes (OR = 0.534, 95% CI 0.201; 1.422), p = 0.027. In contrast, patients with higher depression levels were more likely to experience recurrent strokes (OR = 2.055, 95% CI 1.115; 3.787), p = 0.021.
Conclusion. The study highlights low physical activity and high depression as influential factors in increasing stroke recurrence, underscoring the need to promote physical activity and mental health support in stroke rehabilitation.

The association between objectively measured physical activity, screen time and cognitive function: A narrative review

Abstract
Aim. This narrative review aimed to investigate the association of objectively measured physical activity and screen time on cognitive function among young adults. Methods. We conducted searches on EBSCO and Google Scholar to identify relevant studies published in English within the last decade. The search terms included keywords such as “physical activity” or “exercise,” and “screen time” or “screen exposure,” along with “cognition” or “cognitive function”. Results. Almost all studies conducted on older adults showed positive associations between physical activity assessed objectively using an accelerometer, screen time, and cognitive function. Conflicting results were observed between physical activity and cognitive functions in young and middle-aged adults. More studies are required to confirm the association between objectively measured physical activity and cognitive function, given the limited availability of studies. Conclusion. The overall findings of this narrative review highlight the negative impact of sedentary behavior on cognitive health, emphasizing the need to incorporate physical activity into our lifestyles to prevent future cognitive decline. Moreover, the impact of screen time and media content yielded contradictory findings on cognitive functions among different age groups, but mostly confirmed the negative effects of passive screen exposure on cognitive functions among children and adolescents. This review highlights the need for future studies to use standardized and objective methods to measure cognitive function, screen time and media content in different populations, especially on young and middle-aged adults, to raise awareness regarding screen time.

Abstract
This study investigates the condition of (1) nutritional status, (2) physical fitness, (3) physical activity patterns of sports science study program students after the pandemic. The research method uses quantitative methods with analytical observational design. The research subjects were sports students from the Sports Science study program, FIKK UNY. The subjects were active students totaling around 50 participants determined using purposive sampling techniques. Physical fitness data collection techniques use the BMI formula, bleep test and GPAQ questionnaire. Techniques for analyzing data with homogeneity and normality. The results obtained from nutritional status and cardiovascular fitness can be said to be still unsatisfactory, nutritional status is in the normal or ideal category, but the range of cardiovascular abilities is still in the adequate category for men and inadequate for women. Meanwhile, the measurement results from filling out the GPAQ questionnaire show that there is still a need to increase awareness of the importance of physical activity, indicated by transportation and recreational activities of moderate intensity which are still in the category of not meeting the recommendations, even though heavy, moderate physical activity and vigorous recreational activities meet the recommendations. Nutritional status is still in the normal category, but the range of cardiovascular abilities is still in the adequate category for men and inadequate for women. This is positively correlated with moderate intensity physical activity patterns, transportation and recreation, which are still in the category of not meeting recommendations. The sedentary habits usually carried out by sports students must be able to be transferred as soon as possible to more useful and productive movement activities. Amount of leisure time for physical activity is still relatively low, whereas other moderate to vigorous physical activity habits are beginning to resurface. There must be an intentional strategy to provide suggestions on how to spend free time performing activities outdoors or indoors.

The effect of physical activity on selected somatic characteristics of older school bound children

Abstract
Objective. The aim of the study was to investigate the level and frequency of physical activity of older school-bound children and its effect on posture and muscle imbalance. Methods. 453 children aged between 13 and 15 years participated in this study. The examinations were carried out in the selected primary schools in the Eastern Slovakia. The quality of the postural system was assessed by the methodology of Jaroš and Lomnička. Muscle imbalance was assessed by standardized manual tests of Professor Janda. We determined the level of statistical significance at p = 0.05. Results. The outcome of our observation of the whole group was following: 59.8% of children have flaccid posture and 22.1% of children have poor posture. The most affected segment was the lower limb posture, which showed a statistically significant difference between the groups with the level of physical activity at the significance level of p = 0.030. The mean values of 2.77 (± 0.78) were the highest in the group of children with recreational sport activities.. A statistically significant difference was observed in the muscle group scores of m. trapesius l.dx. at the significance level p = 0.002, mm. pectorales l.dx. at the significance level p = 0.002, mm. pectorales l.sin. at the significance level p = 0.006, while the mean values in the degree of shortening were the highest in the group of children without physical activity. When looking at the effect of physical activity on the degree of weakening of muscle strength, we found out statistically significant differences in the scores of all selected muscle groups, with the lowest mean values in the group of children without physical activity. Conclusion. In clinical practice, we recommend regular screening of children’s posture, increasing the frequency of spontaneous and controlled physical activity in school and out-of-school settings.

Abstract
Background and Study Aim. Obesity is a metabolic disease characterised by excessive fat accumulation. Indonesia ranks second after Singapore with the largest number of obese adolescents. The study aimed to assess the impact of physical activity, eating behavior, and sleep quality on Body Mass Index (BMI) in adolescents.
Materials and Methods. This study was quantitative, with an ex post facto design. The study included 231 students (136 males, 95 females) aged 16-19 years, each with a Body Mass Index (BMI) ≥ 25.1. Participants were healthy and consented to the study by completing a screening questionnaire. The analysis was performed using regression techniques in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21 software.
Results. The selected regression model is feasible and demonstrates that physical activity, diet, and sleep quality collectively influence students’ BMI (p-value < 0.001).  Furthermore, the analysis shows that physical activity (p-value < 0.001), diet (p-value = 0.019), and sleep quality (p-value < 0.001) independently affect students’ BMI.
Conclusions. We suggest that schools need to hold counseling programs in collaboration with relevant health workers to conduct counseling with the prevention of malnutrition, especially obesity. Provide additional tasks in the form of physical activity that students must do at home with parental supervision and the results will be reported to the teacher as an additional task value. Parents should also provide supervision of eating behavior and sleep patterns. For future researchers to be able to reveal other variables that can affect student BMI, because our report found only 49.90%.

Abstract
Background. The increasing prevalence of stroke, particularly among younger populations in countries like India, necessitates effective preventive strategies. Modifiable risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, and smoking contribute significantly to stroke incidence. This study focuses on the implementation of a 12-week moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) program to address these risk factors and reduce stroke incidence.
Methodology. The study involved a structured MVPA intervention among individuals at risk of stroke, emphasizing consistent adherence to the protocol. Key outcomes, including systolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, and total cholesterol levels, were monitored. Cardiovascular fitness improvements were assessed using the Cooper’s Run Test. The study also examined the feasibility and acceptability of the MVPA intervention through participant adherence rates.
Results. The MVPA group exhibited significant reductions in systolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, and total cholesterol levels compared to the control group. These findings underscore the efficacy of MVPA in managing major stroke risk factors. Additionally, participants demonstrated enhanced cardiovascular endurance, highlighting the program’s positive impact on overall cardiovascular health. High adherence rates in the MVPA group indicated the feasibility of implementing structured exercise protocols for individuals at risk of stroke.
Conclusion. This pilot study demonstrates the effectiveness of a 12-week MVPA program in reducing key stroke risk factors and improving cardiovascular fitness among individuals at risk of stroke. The findings emphasize the importance of structured exercise interventions in stroke prevention efforts. While promising, further research with larger sample sizes and longer durations is necessary to establish the sustained benefits and feasibility of such interventions. Implementing tailored MVPA programs holds significant potential for mitigating stroke risk, offering valuable insights for global stroke prevention strategies.
