Abstract
Objective. This study aimed to investigate the effects of meditation and deep breathing exercises on archery accuracy, with a specific focus on their impact on cardiovascular endurance.
Methods. A two-group pretest–posttest experimental design was employed. The sample consisted of 20 athletes aged 12–14 years, with an average training experience of 2.7 ± 6.6 years and an average of three competitions per year. Participants were divided into two groups: a meditation group (MG) and a deep breathing group (DBG). Both groups underwent 18 training sessions over six weeks with identical training doses (sets, duration, and recovery). All participants practiced archery at a distance of 30 meters for 30 minutes. Data collection included a 30-meter accuracy test and a multistage fitness test to assess cardiovascular endurance. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA in SPSS 26.
Results. The Shapiro–Wilk test confirmed the normality of the data distribution, and the homogeneity test (p > 0.05) indicated that the data originated from the same population. Two-way ANOVA revealed: (1) differences in cardiovascular endurance between the MG and DBG groups (0.041 < 0.05), (2) differences in 30-meter archery accuracy based on cardiovascular endurance (0.000 < 0.05), and (3) an interaction between MG and DBG on 30-meter archery accuracy based on cardiovascular endurance (0.025 < 0.05).
Conclusions. Deep breathing exercises demonstrated more significant improvements in cardiovascular endurance compared to meditation exercises. Enhanced cardiovascular endurance likely contributed to improved hand stability, mental focus, and coordination during archery competitions. This study highlights the need for further research with larger sample sizes and more advanced measurement methods.

Abstract
Introduction. Ideal body weight is an important component for volleyball players, as it is necessary to maintain physical performance during training and matches to maximize effectiveness. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of weight training machine and body weight training methods in reducing body fat levels.
Method. This study employed a two-groups pretest-posttest design. The population consisted of female volleyball athletes, with a sample of 14 athletes selected through proportional sampling based on the criteria of female gender, age range between 15–20 years, and possessing the ideal body weight for volleyball players. Ordinal pairing was conducted to divide the participants into groups. The instrument used was a skinfold caliper to measure body fat at the biceps, triceps, subscapular, and suprailiac sites. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test and an independent t-test.
Results.
– The weight training machine group demonstrated a significant reduction in body fat levels, with a calculated t-value of 14.789 and a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05).
– The body weight training group also showed a significant reduction, with a calculated t-value of 9.348 and a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), although the reduction was smaller compared to the weight training machine group.
– A significant difference between the two training methods was observed, with a calculated t-value of -4.583 and a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating that weight training machines were more effective than body weight training.
Conclusion. It can be concluded that weight training machines are more appropriate when approaching competition periods to maintain body proportions and optimize performance. Body weight training, however, is more suitable for pre-competition phases or longer training periods.

Streszczenie

Introduction. Archery is a static sport that requires good physical strength. This physical strength can affect the achievement of an archery athlete. Physical strength includes hand grip strength and body balance. One way to measure grip strength is to use a handgrip dynamometer. Meanwhile, to measure the balance of the body can use the stock body balance test. Then the sample did a test shooting of 36 arrows with a shooting range of 15 meters. Purpose. this study was to determine the relationship between hand grip strength and body balance with the ability to shoot archery at a distance of 15 meters. Methods. This research is a descriptive-analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted at the Archery Training Center, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. The population sample is 60 people aged 12-13 years consisting of 34 boys and 26 girls. The data obtained was then tested for Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple regression correlation tests using the Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) application version 26. Results. The SPSS analysis test showed that there was a significant relationship between grip strength and archery skills at a distance of 15 meters with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.446. Body balance is also related to archery skills at a distance of 15 meters with a significance value of p = 0.043 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.262. Meanwhile, in the multiple correlation test, the results obtained were p = 0.001 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.480. Conclusion. Based on the results and discussion above, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between hand grip strength, body balance, and archery skills at a distance of 15 meters in junior archery athletes in Sleman Indonesia.
