Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of an integrative hypertension management approach combining degenerative massage therapy with a standardized scientific herbal formula in reducing blood pressure among hypertensive patients in Kulon Progo, Indonesia. A quasi-experimental, two-group pre-test–post-test design was employed, involving 22 hypertensive participants selected through purposive sampling from Dusun Terbah, Pengasih District. Participants were divided into an intervention group (massage + herbal formula) and a control group (massage only). Blood pressure was measured using a digital sphygmomanometer, and data were analyzed using independent sample t-tests followed by paired t-tests.
The results of the independent sample t-test showed no statistically significant difference in systolic or diastolic blood pressure between the treatment and control groups (p > 0.05), indicating that both groups experienced similar reductions. However, paired t-test analysis revealed significant within-group reductions in the intervention group: systolic blood pressure decreased from 155.09 mmHg to 134.91 mmHg                         (13.01% reduction, p < 0.001), and diastolic pressure from 94.64 mmHg to 78.82 mmHg (16.72% reduction, p < 0.001). The control group also showed significant reductions: systolic pressure decreased from 152.55 mmHg to 133.45 mmHg (12.52% reduction, p < 0.001), and diastolic pressure from 89.36 mmHg to 76.91 mmHg (13.93% reduction, p = 0.001).
This study found that the comparative analysis using an independent sample t-test showed no statistically significant difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure between the treatment and control groups. Both groups experienced a reduction in blood pressure, suggesting that massage played a dominant role in the therapeutic effect, as both received identical massage interventions. However, further analysis using a paired t-test revealed that degenerative massage therapy combined with scientifically validated herbal formulations was effective in reducing blood pressure among hypertensive patients. Despite these promising results, further verification is necessary. This therapy is not recommended as a standalone treatment but rather as a holistic and rapid complementary approach to hypertension management. The combination offers not only physiological benefits but also aligns with culturally accepted traditional medical practices. Future studies should involve larger sample sizes and longer intervention periods to assess the long-term effectiveness and broader applicability of this integrative therapy.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG01A8A1B7

Abstract
Brain function is crucial in achieving peak performance. This can determine a person’s motor control and psychological state, such as motivation, attention, goal setting, memory, self-control, decision-making, and concentration. Spontaneous activity of various physical organs such as the brain, heart, and muscles can be a reference when this behavior occurs. This protocol paper aims to determine whether brain exercises can influence athletes’ brain wave activity and concentration levels. The quasi-experimental method used a pretest-posttest control group design involving 68 futsal athletes. Group 1 will use Brain Gym with instrumental music, Group 2 will use Brain Gym with aromatherapy, and Group 3 will use Brain Gym with both aromatherapy and instrumental music. The research will take place at UNPARI, Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra. The results of this research can serve as a basis for developing mental training methods based on the psychophysiological impact of brain wave activity and athletes’ concentration. This highlights the need for better-designed training programs to optimize performance.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG020AUOG

Abstract
Fatigue is a critical issue for female exercisers that may lead to medical errors, degradation in performance, decreased mental acuity, and social problems. Poor sleep quality is also a contributing factor to the fatigue experienced by female exercisers. Overwork is a factor causing poor sleep quality in female exercisers. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between workload, fatigue, and sleep quality among female exercisers in the Sleman Regency District. A cross-sectional study was conducted from December 2023 to March 2024 using a self-reported questionnaire. The questionnaire included the Workload questionnaire adapted from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index, the Leeds Sleep Evaluation Questionnaire (LSEQ), and the Subjective Self Rating of Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS) from the WHO Quality of Life Assessment Instrument (WHOQOL-EF) with 200 respondents in Sleman Regency. The PLS equation model was used to analyze the relationship between workload, sleep quality, fatigue, and the indicators of each instrument. The results showed that female exercisers who were over 40 years old, had children at home, had informal work, did daily exercise in the evening, and had a work schedule in the night had a higher risk of fatigue and poorer sleep quality than those below 40 years old who didn’t have children at home, had formal work, did daily exercise in the morning, and had a work schedule in the morning. A subjective self-rating test was used to measure fatigue, sleep quality, and workload. The training load and intensity of exercise programs influenced fatigue levels, which affected sleep quality. Female exercisers may face challenges balancing exercise with other commitments, such as family responsibilities, leading to overtraining and fatigue. The PLS model test showed a significant relationship between sleep quality and the level of perceived fatigue (p-value = 0.000). Workload significantly impacts sleep quality and fatigue risk in female exercisers. Therefore, managing workload is crucial to improving sleep quality and reducing fatigue risk.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG020A52P

Abstract:
The physical education learning process is monotonous and only focuses on learning movement and student achievement, which decreases students’ motivation to participate in physical education. This research aims to improve students’ playing skills and respect by using the Hybrid TPSR-Sport Education learning model. The method used is quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The study involved 72 students, with an observation sheet measuring playing skills and a questionnaire assessing respect levels. Data analysis, including pretest and post-test scores, showed that the TPSR-Sport Education Hybrid Learning Model had a strong, positive, and significant influence on increasing students’ playing skills and respect. The statistical analysis showed playing skills tcount > ttable (14.677 > 2.028), and respect tcount > ttable (10.156 > 2.028). The hybrid model proved more effective than the conventional learning model.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG2EF8b3T

Abrstract
This paper aims to succinctly summarize the existing body of literature concerning the effects of massage on sports and exercise performance, particularly focusing on motor skills, neurophysiological factors, and psychological factors. The review adheres to the PRISMA guidelines (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis) and encompasses a total of 76 articles. The findings suggest that, on the whole, massages do not exert a significant influence on motor skills, except for flexibility. Nevertheless, some studies propose that favorable changes in muscle force and muscular strength may be noticeable 48 hours after undergoing a massage. Regarding neurophysiological aspects, massages do not seem to impact factors such as clearance of blood lactate, circulation in the muscle, blood circulation, temperature in the muscle tissue, or activation of muscles. However, there is substantiated evidence supporting the idea that massages can alleviate pain and mitigate delayed-onset muscle soreness, potentially by reducing creatine kinase enzyme levels and through psychological processes. Additionally, the review underscores the psychological advantages of massage. It is documented that massage treatments lead to a reduction in feelings of depression, stress, anxiety, and perceived fatigue while simultaneously fostering enhancements in mood, relaxation, and opinion about recovery states. Massages may not have a direct impact on certain performance aspects, but they offer notable psychological benefits for sports, and exercise performance is questionable. They also play an indirect role as an important tool for promoting focus, relaxation, and recovery in athletes. Massages can aid athletes in staying mentally and physically prepared during competitions or training sessions.
