Abstract
The problem in this research is that basketball athletes in West Sumatra are still not performing jump shots optimally. This research aims to develop basketball coaching knowledge in West Sumatra to improve basketball coaches’ human resources. The population in this study included all 23 students from the coaching department who took specialized basketball courses. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling combined with random sampling for 6 students. This limited sample size was chosen to ensure controlled training conditions and to provide focused, preliminary insights into the efficacy of the massed practice method for jump shooting. The instrument used was the jump shot test. The method used in this research was research and development. This research concludes that the massed practice training method influences jump shot ability. The results show that the calculated t-value is 2.72, while the t-table is 2.015 with a significance level of α = 0.05 and df = 5. Based on this, t-calculated > t-table (2.72 > 2.015). It can be concluded that the massed practice training method influences the jump shot ability of students at the Faculty of Sports Science, Padang State University, Department of Coaching, Class of 2021. It was found that the massed practice training method influenced the jump shot ability of students at the Faculty of Sports Science, Padang State University, Department of Coaching, Class of 2021.

Ari Septiyanto, Suharjana, Agus Sumhendartin Suryobroto – Effects of yoga interventions on cardiac autonomic function in patients with diabetes: a randomized controlled study –  Fizjoterapia Polska 2025; 25(1); 138-143

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG007DE1RR

Abstract
Background. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition often accompanied by autonomic neuropathy and reduced heart rate variability (HRV), which is associated with increased cardiovascular risk. Yoga has shown promise as a non-pharmacological intervention to improve autonomic function in various populations.
Objectives. The primary objective of this randomized controlled trial was to evaluate the effects of a 12-week yoga intervention on cardiac autonomic function, as measured by HRV parameters, in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Methods. Ninety adults with type 2 diabetes were randomly assigned to either a yoga intervention group (n = 45) or a control group (n = 45). The yoga group participated in a 60-minute yoga session three times per week for 12 weeks, while the control group maintained their usual care. Short-term HRV was assessed at baseline and post-intervention using time-domain (SDNN, RMSSD, pNN50) and frequency-domain (LF, HF, LF/HF ratio) parameters. Additional cardiometabolic risk factors were also evaluated.
Results. The yoga group demonstrated significant improvements in time-domain HRV parameters, including mean RR, mean HR, SDNN, RMSSD, and pNN50 (p < 0.05). In the frequency domain, the yoga group showed a significant increase in HF power (p = 0.03) and reductions in LF power (p = 0.02) and LF/HF ratio (p = 0.04), suggesting enhanced parasympathetic activity and better autonomic balance. The control group showed a decline in SDNN and pNN50 over the study period.
Conclusions. A 12-week yoga program significantly improved cardiac autonomic function in individuals with type 2 diabetes, as demonstrated by positive shifts in both time-domain and frequency-domain HRV measures. These results indicate that yoga could serve as a helpful complementary approach to standard diabetes treatment, potentially lowering the risk of cardiovascular issues by enhancing autonomic regulation.

Abstract
Background. Plyometric training is recognized for enhancing various physical fitness parameters critical to athletic performance, particularly in soccer players.
Purpose. This study aimed to assess the effects of a 12-week plyometric training program, conducted three times per week, on key fitness parameters in professional male soccer players.
Methods. A total of 40 professional male soccer players were randomly assigned to a control group (CG, n=20) and a plyometric training group (PTG, n=20). Participants (mean height = 176.14±3.28 cm, weight = 68.24±2.17 kg, and age = 20.31±2.30 years) underwent a 12-week plyometric training intervention. Fitness assessments were conducted before and after the intervention, measuring agility (t-test), balance (stork stand test), speed (50 m dash), power (medicine ball throw test), explosive power (vertical jump), leg strength (standing broad jump), and core strength (sit-up test).
Results. Significant improvements (p < 0.001) were observed in the PTG across all fitness parameters compared to the control group, indicating the effectiveness of plyometric training in enhancing physical fitness in soccer players.
Conclusion. The 12-week plyometric training program positively impacted agility, balance, speed, power, explosive power, leg strength, and core strength in professional male soccer players, suggesting it as a valuable regimen for improving overall physical performance.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG5608UC2

Abstract
Study purpose. Play therapy practice prioritizes the child’s role in the therapeutic process. Empirical research and clinical evidence extensively support the efficacy of play therapy in addressing various mental health concerns. Notably, play therapy is a universally accessible intervention, transcending cultural and linguistic barriers, thus providing individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and communication styles with a unique platform for self-expression and exploration. Material and methods. Metaphor studies have emerged as a valuable tool for families with children undergoing play therapy, offering them a means to articulate their experiences meaningfully. Result. This study delves into the significance of play therapy in children’s lives by examining family perspectives expressed through metaphors. Using a qualitative research model, we conducted a systematic content analysis to examine the data collected through these metaphors. The research sample comprises children from 100 families participating in play therapy sessions tailored to meet their specific needs in Istanbul. A total of 9 themes emerged. The themes that emerged from the study encompass various dimensions of play therapy’s impact on children’s lives, including Play/Entertainment, Necessity, Learning/Education, Imagination/Fantasy, Communication/Expression, Development, Emotions/Feelings, Social Interaction, Health and Creativity. Conclusion. In conclusion, synthesising research findings underscores play therapy’s holistic and multifaceted influence on child development and well-being. By integrating enjoyable activities, fostering cognitive growth, facilitating social interaction, encouraging emotional expression, and promoting physical and mental well-being, play therapy interventions offer a comprehensive framework for nurturing children’s holistic development and well-being.
