Abstract
Background. The manifestations of CNS disorders, whether it is spasticity, athetosis, ataxia, or any other, are not visible shortly after birth. They usually develop during the first 4 months of life. They can only be elicited in challenge tests, including kinesiological diagnostic work- up according to V. Vojta.Aim – to define the effect of Kinesiology Taping functional application in children with central coordination disorders. Material and Methods. The study involved 28 patients from the Inpatient Rehabilitation Centre of the Multi-speciality Independent Public Health Care Facility in Zgorzelec (10 boys and 18 girls aged 6-10 months). The mean age of the group was 8 months.Results. Changes in the subjects’ postural reactivity were produced in the course of Vojta kinesiological tests. The difference between the number of pre- and post-Kinesiology Taping abnormal reactions [%] was statistically significant for 3 out of the 7 reactions tested. The mean number of abnormal reactions was 3.12 out of 7 reactions tested. The post-KT results improved inasmuch as the number of abnormal reactions decreased on average by 1 to 2.14 abnormal reactions out of the 7 reactions tested.Conclusions. Children tolerate the therapy of Kinesiology Taping very well. KT produces changes in the spatial arrangement of body parts and improves spatial reactivity, as was observed in the Vojta tests. The Traction Response test showed body axis correction in asymmetric children. The suspension test according to Collis revealed that the application of KT on the hand exerted an effect on muscle tone.

Abstract
Background. This work presents the results of a thermovisual analysis of 20 patients subjected to a single Kinesiology Tape application to the lumbosacral region. The Y muscle technique was used for thermovisual assessment. Material and methods. The study involved a group of 20 volunteers, students of Opole Technical University, including 16 women and 4 men, at an average age of 21 years. The subjects had previously reported intermittent low back pain. The surface temperature of the area where Kinesiology Tape was applied was measured three times: before taping, at one hour after taping and 24 hours after the KT application. Results. The biggest increase in surface temperature was observed in centrally located Area 1, where mean temperature increased by 1.27°C while mean temperature increases in lateral test areas were 0.6°C. Temperature increases in test areas located directly on the tapes were 0.3°C. These values fall within thermovisual camera statistical error range. Conclusion. The highest temperature increase was observed in the central test area. The values of temperature increases of the lateral test areas and those located directly on the tape fell within the thermovisual camera statistical error range.

Fizjoterapia Polska 2009; 9(2); 133-142

Abstract
Background. The authors present an assessment of gait pattern in stroke patients subjected to comprehensive physiotherapy inclu-ding Kinesiology Taping applications. Material and methods. The KT group included 20 patients (13 men and 7 women) who were subjected to Kinesiology Taping. KT applications were not used in the control group, which consisted of 5 women and 15 men. Ali patients underwent physical, neurological and functional examinations, which constituted the basis for designing a rehabilitation program. Results. The analysis of the results indicates that functional KT application to the anterior tibial muscie, ligamentous KT application to the Achilles tendon and muscular KT application to the soleus muscie significantly contributed to improving ankle joint function. Patients treated with KT applications demonstrated improved gait patterns, visible as balanced step length and an extended support phase main-taining the body weight. When learning and analyzing the gait pattern, the midstance phase (fuli loading) is a significant element prece-ding the propulsion phase. This assessment of gait patterns following KT application in stroke patient is an innovative study. Conclusions. Muscular and ligamentous Kinesiology Taping applications reduce the spastic tension of the lower limb muscles para-lyzed as a result of cerebral stroke, The beneficial effect of Kinesiology Taping described by the founders ofthis method reduces the congestive edema of the limbs paralyzed as a result of a cerebral stroke and improve the gait pattern. The rehabilitation program applied in this study increased the gait speed of the stroke patients.

Abstract
Foot drop is one of the most serious problems, encountered during rehabilitation of patients with the history of cerebrovascular stroke, since it significantly contributes to gait quality deterioration. Traditional orthopaedic equipment may, to some degree, compensate this defect. Alternative rehabilitation forms for patients with foot drop include corrective application of Kinesiology Taping. The goal of this paper is to evaluate the effect of corrective positioning of the foot using Kinesiology Taping on the result of 100 metre walk test in patients with the history of cerebrovascular stroke. 30 randomly selected patients (15 males and 15 females) with the history of cerebrovascular stroke participated in the study. The subjects underwent treatment at the Medical Centre in Brzeg from January to December 2009. The subjects’ age ranged from 53 to 70 years (the mean age = 58.7 years). All the subjects underwent standard neurological physiotherapy. They performed a 100 metre walk test before the application, an hour after the application and 24 hours after the application of Kinesiology Tape, aimed at foot drop correction. A statistically significant (p<0.05) reduction in the results obtained from the test was observed in the subjects after Kinesiology Tape application. The results suggest the usefulness of corrective application of Kinesiology Taping, supporting neurological physiotherapy in patients after cerebrovascular stroke.

M. Krajczy, K. Bogacz, J. Łuniewski, Z. Śliwiński, D. Gąbka, J. Szczegielniak – Review of literature on the application of Kinesio Taping (KT) in internal diseases: in surgery, cardiology and pulmonology . Fizjoterapia Polska 2018; 18(2); 32-42

Abstract

Introduction. So far, there have been few materials on Kinesio Taping (KT), in particular those meeting the criteria of scientific fact-based materials. The available literature includes articles on the possibility of using KT, but the results presented are not unequivocal. Some hypotheses and theories are contradictory, and many of them are not supported with any study results, and the conclusions presented seem questionable.
Objective. The objective of this study is to present the current state of knowledge of the possibility to apply the KT method in internal diseases: in cardiology and pulmonology.
Material and methods. The first stage was conducted from October to November 2017. It included preliminary selection aimed at identifying the works on the possibility of applying dynamic taping. The second stage of the research was conducted from December 2017 to January 2018, and consisted in a detailed analysis of the selected works on application and assessment of effects of dynamic taping in surgery, pulmonology and cardiology.
Results. When assessing the effects of KT in internal diseases in cardiology and pulmonology, the effects were classified as poor effects (PE), effects (E) and anti-effects (AE), when the results of the trial do not confirm the therapeutic activities. 2 E were discovered in assessing the effects of KT in surgery (2 articles). 3 E were discovered in the study of application in pulmonology (3rd article). No articles of the A reference level, concerning application of KT in cardiology.
Conclusions. Three conclusions were formulated on the basis of analysis of the source materials:
1. There has been a recent progress in the research into the possibility of applying dynamic taping in physical therapy, including in internal diseases: pulmonology and cardiology.
2. There are few prospective, randomized trials associated with application of dynamic taping, conducted on a large enough group of patients.
3. Few articles in the literature that explain the principles of DT, meet the criteria of research based on scientific facts.

Abstract

Introduction. The problem of weight loss associated with the loss of wafer in athletes has been the subject of numerous studies. Until now, the average values of weight loss due to sweating at rest and while participating in some sports were calculated. However, no comprehensive studies have not been conducted info water loss in patients undergoing intensive physical exertion, including in patients after myocardial infarction, in the course of intensive rehabilitation.
Aim. the aim of this study was to assess weight loss in patients after myocardial infarction during intensive rehabilitation including training on cycle ergometer.
Material and methods. A total of 47 randomly selected patients (72 women, 35 men) treated in Rehabilitation Department of MSW Hospital in Glucholazy participated in the research. Before and after exercise, measurements were taken with the use of body mass weight Tanita SC 330S in all patients. In addition, for all patients at the end of rehabilitation program, 10-point questionnaire was used to examine fluid intake during the day, during and after physical exercises.
Results. There was a statistically significant difference (p <0.05) between body weight values before and after exercise. Based on the questionnaire, it was found that a large number of patients did not fake additional supplementary fluids, unless they experienced the feeling of thirst; the information about the quantity and type of fluid they should take was not given to patients during rehabilitation
Conclusions. The study showed a significant decrease in body weight after training conducted in patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation. Lack of adequate hydration for patients in the course of their rehabilitation was found.
Complex cardiac rehabilitation program should take into account the need to maintain proper water balance.
