Abstract
Background. Degenerative arthritis is the most widespread disease of organ of movement. Degenerative process refers to vertebrae, lumbar discs and joint cartilage. Its character is slow, but constantly progressive. Treatment consists in minimalising the weight through lying with the head positioned in the least painful position, most often in a medium position on a small roller under the head. Apart from positioning treatment pharmacological analgesic and loosening substances are applied. Also physical treatment may be performed, like laser light therapy; most often laser light of power up to 200 mW is used. Material and methods. The research material constituted 25 patients with diagnosed degenerative cervical spine disease. Laser radiation of cervical spine in all patients was performed. The recommended dose was 4J/cm2. Treatment was performed of laser probe, with the contact method. Treatment was applied 10 times, everyday, with a weekend break. Before and after the treatment measurement of pain intensity and the range of movement of neck spine section was executed. Results. On the basis of the results of the research a significant reduction of pain level after therapy was stated. With 75% of patients pain could be positioned on level 3 which means small, not resulting in limitation of motorial activity, with 25% of patients pain was moderate. The assesment of movability of cervical spine in sigittal plain after therapy showed a significant increase in range of movement in sigittal and horizontal plain in the right direction. Conclusions. Laser therapy on cervical spine degenerative disease lowers pain level. Laser light radiation results in increasing of the range of movement in cervical spine joints.

Analgesic effect of static magnets – efficacy according to evidences

Piotr Tederko, Marek Krasuski – Analgesic effect of static magnets – efficacy according to evidences. Fizjoterapia Polska 2011; 11(4); 289-301

Abstract
Alternative and complimentary modes of treatment gain popularity and compete with evidence based therapies. Development of alternative methods is enhanced by the demands of the market of medical devices designed for home treatment without need of a physician’s consultation. Application of devices with static magnets is advertised as a safe and effective pain therapy. The purpose of the paper is to analyze scientific evidence of efficacy and safety of static magnetic fields (SMF) applied as therapeutic modality for pain. Survey of peer-reviewed scientific publications resulted in identification of 45 papers including 40 primary publications and 5 meta-analyses. 4 original studies were excludes as uncontrolled trials or case studies. One paper was disqualified because of simultaneous application of alternating magnetic field. Among randomized controlled trials on clinical applications of SMF against pain 10 support hypothesis of analgesic effect of SMF, 9 neither confirm nor exclude therapeutic efficacy of SMF, and 16 give the evidence against SMF superiority over placebo. Frequent failure to blind the study, small sample sizes, short follow-up period limit evidence value of the analyzed results. Expectations resulting from frequent sponsorship of studies by manufacturers of SMF equipment appear to influence the objectivity of several conclusions. SMF of inductances within the range of those used in analyzed devices are not classifiable due to their potential risk of chronic exposure by inconclusive evidence. According to theoretical deliberations, pregnancy, infancy, pacemakers, ferromagnetic implants and application of electronic devices regulating life functions are considered contraindications for the use of therapeutic devices emitting SMF. The current state of knowledge does not allow for unambiguous confirmation of SMF therapeutic efficacy. Devices for therapy with SMF should not be sold as analgesic modalities before evidence of efficacy and safety in each particular indication is confirmed.

The effect of magnetic field on the signal transduction

The effect of magnetic field on the signal transduction. FP 2014; 14(1); 50-58

Abstract

The therapy using the magnetic field has been known for centuries. Today it is a technique widely used in practice due to low harmfulness, wide applicability and good clinical outcomes with relatively low outlay. The biological effect of the magnetic field is related, inter alia, with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. The analgesic activity is primarily based on the endogenous opioid system. The magnetic field regulates opioid analgesic by affecting the calcium channels, and Ca2+ concentration. Furthermore, the magnetic field enhances the immune system affecting the inflammatory reactions. One of the mechanisms of anti-inflammatory effect of magnetotherapy may also be an antioxidant activity. The confirmation of the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect of the magnetic field are clinical trials conducted in various institutions in the world. Have been documented, among others, studies which used magnetic therapy in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetic neuropathy and fibromyalgia. The aim of this study is to present the current state of knowledge on the mechanisms of action of analgesic and anti-inflammatory magnetic field.

Abstract
Aim. Evaluation the impact factor of therapeutic agent in the form of ozone application to temperature and feeling on superficial skin on facial part of the skull.
Material and Methods. The study included 60 patients, healthy, not taking any medication, aged 20 – 30 years old, 30 women and 30 men. Each time, before diagnostic tests, on cleansed skin determined 3 points: A – Supramentale, B – Chelion and C – projection of head of condylar process
of mandible on surface of skin. Then proceeded to double application of ozone – 30-and 60-seconds, in accordance with current standards for extraoral areas. Between the applications and measurements of sensation and temperature respected 15-minute break. Sensation measurement was carried out using PulpoEndometr device, and temperature was tested with laser pointer thermometer (CA 380). The last element was noticing sensations of pain using VAS scale.
Results. The results were analyzed using Statistica software.
Conclusions. 30-seconds of application in point. A woman pointing to the initial symptoms of analgesic, but in the general population can be seen only trailers that action. 60-seconds
of application at this point, and both applications in point. B showed a slightly increased sensitivity to stimuli. Different applications of ozone impact were noted in point. C, which was a slight decrease
in sensitivity to stimuli. It is worth noting that both applications of ozone in men at point C show some symptoms of analgesic.
