Abstract

Background. The transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation was to evaluate of work usefulness of and examining of applied method of treatment onto level of fear at ill with chronic pain in ground of spine. Material and methods. Investigation degeneration were moved in group of 59 patients with symptoms of chronic pain in after-effect of changes-disfiguring section of loin spine. Level of fear in studied group ISCL were estimated behind help of questionnaire. Heal conduct hugged endeavors with use of impulses TENS as well as heal practices. Results. The statistical tests dependence was showed between level of fear in studied group and results of treatment. Sex was not essential meaning in formation both guilds as state of fear in studied group. Conclusions. Applied method of treatment contributed to lower of level of fear in studied group and results confirmed usefulness in treatment ill with symptoms of chronic pain.

Iwona Demczyszak, Zdzisława Wrzosek, Wojciech Hagner – The occurrence and dynamics of depressive symptoms in patients with chronic lumbar pain syndrome. Fizjoterapia Polska 2004; 4(2); 112-116

Abstract

Background. The purpose of our study was to analyze the occurrence, strength, and dynamics of depressive symptoms in patients with chronic pain caused by degenerative and deformative changes in the lumbar spine, and to examine the impact of the physiotherapy methods used on the measured parameters. Material and methods. The research material consisted of patients at the Resurs Specialized Rehabilitation Clinic in Wrocław. We examined 106 patients complaining of chronic pain caused by degenerative and deformative changes in the lower spine. The level of depressive symptoms was assessed in all patients with the Beck Depression Inventory. Results. Statistical analysis showed a dependency between the occurrence of depressive symptoms and gender. The impact of various methods of treatment in the group with depressive symptoms was also assessed. Conclusions. Depression occurs in some patients with chronic lower back pain. The level of depression in both examinations was higher among the women. After treatment there were no significant changes in the level of depression in the study group.

Grzegorz Konieczny, Katarzyna Leżoń, Zdzisława Wrzosek, Michał Sokołowski – The assessment of gait deviations in patients with knee arthritis using the ground reaction forces analysis. Fizjoterapia Polska 2006; 6(4); 317-321

Abstract
Background. The purpose of this study is to analyze the objective gait parameters for the subjects with knee arthritis using ground reaction forces analysis. Material and methods. The gait analysis was performed on 31 subjects with unilateral knee arthritis with use of Pressure Distribution Measurement System (PDM-S) force-plate. The first peak force, the second peak force, the loading rate, the push-off rate, the stance time, and the distribution of pressure across the foot were analyzed. The VAS score was also obtained. Results. The obtained results were compared with outcomes of gait analysis of healthy population presented by J. L. McCrory. The first and the second peak force were lower for the limb with arthritic knee. The stance time for the limb with arthritic knee was lower. The pressure measured at the heel, and rate of loading were also lower for the limb with arthritic knee. Conclusion. The osteoarthritis of knee leads to substantial alterations in gait. Gait deviations contribute mainly to pain associated with osteoarthritis of knee joint. The gait analysis with use of ground reaction force-plates is valuable method in functional assessment of knee arthritis.
