Abstract
Background. Recent scientific reports in dentistry and psychology tend to emphasize the role of various personality traits in temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) multimodal etiology. Since type D personality is a new construct, there has not been much research published regarding this subject. It encompasses both the tendency to experience negative emotions and the tendency to refrain from expressing them. The impact of this combined effect on the increase in stress intensity and the development of somatic and psychiatric illnesses is clearly highlighted. The data presented in the scientific report complement previous insights during ongoing research on Type D personality in people with TMD predisposing factors.
Aim. The aim of this article was to assess the influence of type D personality and its two dimensions on the prevalence of symptoms located in TMJ and adjacent tissues, predisposing factors, depression, and levels of perceived stress.
Material and methods. The study was conducted on a group of 240 physiotherapy students. The study group (G1) comprised of 120 students with DS. 14 type D personality. The control group (G2) consisted of the same number of people without Type D personality. Data obtained included symptoms of TMJ symptoms, and predisposing factors according to original questionnaire form developed for the study; PSS10 stress severity questionnaire and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were also used.
Results. In the study group, TMD symptoms significantly positively correlate with type D personality (with NE a stronger correlation than with SI), PSS10 and BDI, and negatively correlate with age. Students with type D personality had significantly more frequent and higher TMD symptoms than those without stress personality (p = 0.000). The exception was the symptom of increased muscle tension which showed no statistical difference (p = 0.222). People with Type D personality are more than 6 times more likely to clench their teeth (OR = 6.76) and 3 times more likely to have TMJ acoustic symptoms (OR = 3.35) and teeth grinding (OR = 3.27). In the study group, as the level of perceived stress and degree of depression increased, the number of TMJ and preauricular area complaints reported were also on the rise. In the group of students with type D personality, depression was significantly more frequent than in the group without stress personality (p = 0.000).
Conclusion. Students with Type D personality risk experiencing more TMJ and preauricular area issues, while coping with more stress and depressed mood.

Abstract
Objective. The main objective of the study is to assess the knowledge of parents/guardians about body posture defects in children at early school age. During the study, additional objectives were set regarding the determination of the level of parents’ knowledge in selected topics. These topics concerned the type of body posture defects in children, factors influencing their formation, as well as determining the knowledge of parents in the use of preventive measures.
Material and methods. The study group consisted of 300 parents of children at early school age. The study was conducted on the basis of an original, anonymous questionnaire consisting of 24 questions. Respondents provided answers to questions concerning, among others, the source of obtaining information on posture defects, knowledge of individual posture defects and methods of prevention.
Results. The study showed that people living in larger towns/cities and having higher education have a wider range of knowledge in the field of body posture defects. In addition, respondents with higher education know and use posture defect prevention methods much more often than people with lower education. According to the respondents, wearing a backpack on one shoulder is one of the most common causes of posture defects. Parents who do not know whether their child has a posture defect relatively rarely use preventive methods.

Shoulder joint function evaluation after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty – preliminary reports

Abstract
Introduction. Physiotherapy is an important part of the comprehensive treatment of patients after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA). Patients qualified for RTSA struggle with shoulder joint dysfunctions of various aetiologies – most often with irreparable damage to the rotator cuff tendons. The aim of physiotherapy after RTSA is to restore the lost functions of the shoulder joint based on a targeted rehabilitation protocol taking into account the changed biomechanical conditions of the shoulder.
Materials and methods. The study material consisted of 6 patients after RTSA. Patients were examined before the procedure and after rehabilitation with the use of the Constant-Murley Score. The rehabilitation model was implemented on the day before surgery and continued for 12 weeks.
Results. Each patient experienced an improvement in shoulder mobility and a reduction in pain intensity.
Conclusions. Rehabilitation after RTSA improves the functions of the shoulder joint expressed by an increased range of joint mobility, elimination of pain and improved quality of life.

Abstract
The correct assessment of functioning and determination of the health needs of the senior using standardized scales and questionnaires is necessary to determine his ability to live independently and to determine the extent of therapeutic intervention and necessary care.
Objective
Assessment of the relationship between physical, emotional and intellectual fitness, and sociodemographic features of residents of the Social Welfare Home (SWH).
Material and methods. 80 people aged 70 to 90 years were examined. The study consisted of three parts: proprietary survey, anthropometric parameters assessment, assessment of functional, intellectual and emotional state of SWH residents.
Results. The obtained variables showed the relationships, i.e. education and physical fitness; gender and physical fitness; gender and tendency to depression; physical activity and functional fitness; physical activity and depression; social and motor activity and depression. In the second group, statistical analysis showed no relationship between age and depression, and education and depression.
Conclusions
1. An increased body mass index has a negative impact on the functional state of the SWH residents.
2. Regular physical activity, positively affects the functional, emotional and intellectual state of SWH residents.
3. Gender and level of education has a significant impact on the functional, emotional and intellectual performance of SWH charges.
4. Physical and social activity of SWH residents has an impact on the reduction of depression symptoms.

Assessment of mobility of the mandible and cervical spine in the stomatognathic system disorders

Abstract
Introduction. The biomechanical connection of the stomatognathic system (SS) with anatomical structures within the head, neck, shoulder girdle, and even with the whole musculoskeletal system signals the need for an interdisciplinary approach to the treatment of dysfunctions of this system.
Objective. Assessment of mobility of the temporomandibular joints and cervical spine in patients with masseter muscle pain. Determination of the relationship between the mobility of the temporomandibular joints and cervical spine. Assessment of bioelectrical activity (sEMG) of masseter muscles in patients with myogenic disorders of the stomatognathic system.
Material and methods. Fifty women (G I) aged 20 to 37 years with diagnosed myogenic disorders of the stomatognathic system and pain were studied. The following examinations were carried out: interview (questionnaire) and physical examination (examination of the stomatognathic system according to Bouman, sEMG of masseter muscles, evaluation of cervical spine mobility, numerical pain scale). The control group (G II) consisted of 50 healthy women.
Results. The level of pain intensity in the masseter muscles was close to the intensity of pain within the sternocleidomastoid muscles. In patients suffering from pain of the stomatognathic system, there was a limited range of mobility of the cervical spine. The largest difference occurred during the rotation of the head to the right and to the left. Between G I and G II, there were statistically significant differences in the values of the masseter muscle sEMG amplitude.
Conclusions. There is a relationship between the limitation of movements of the mandible (opening, lateral movements) and a decrease in the range of mobility of the cervical spine. Myogenic disorders of the stomatognathic system may lead to disturbances in the mobility of the neck.

Changes in mobility of the lumbar spine under the influence of a series of low-frequency magnetotherapy procedures – randomized single-blind study

Abstract
Introduction. In the literature, we find many works emphasizing the great role of physical therapy in treatment of spinal disorders. Low-frequency magnetic field therapy is mainly used as one of many elements of complex rehabilitation.
Aim of the study. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of a series of low-frequency magnetotherapy procedures on the limitation of mobility of the lumbar spine, as well as to determine whether the value of BMI and the age of patients affect the obtained result of the mobility range.
Material and methods. 40 people aged 30 to 71 were examined. The mobility was measured on the first and last day of the therapy using a modified fingertip-to-floor test. It was a randomized, single-blind study. Low-frequency magnetotherapy was applied in group A and simulation of the procedure in group B. Statistical analysis was conducted in the Statistica 12 programme.
Results. Differences in results obtained before and after the series of procedures in particular groups of patients were statistically insignificant (p=NS).
Conclusion. Low-frequency magnetotherapy does not affect the mobility range of the lumbar spine. The value of the body mass index has a slight influence on the range of movements, and also there is no relation between the age of the participants in the study and the range of mobility of a given section of the spine.

Application of manual therapy in the elimination of myogenic pain in stomatognathic system disorders

Abstract

Introduction. In last years there has been considerable development of physiotherapy methods used in dentistry. Among them is the manual therapy as a_form of treatment of functional disorders of the stomatognathic system muscular origin. This method is still very popular among dentists. This is because a_small number of literature, and a_small amount of physiotherapists involved in manual therapy in order to eliminate the symptom of pain.
Aim of the study. determined the effect of relaxing and analgesic masseter muscles under the influence of the use of manual therapy.
Material and methods. study was performed in 20 females, aged from 40 to 45  pain diagnosed as a_disorder of the stomatognathic system. In patients conducted physical examination and clinical examination, electromyographic study of masseter muscles and pain assessment using the VAS scale. Then, the test group received manual therapy treatments.
Results. After completion of therapy and analysis of the results showed a_decrease in the electrical potentials studied muscle and decrease of the VAS scale
