Abstract
Introduction. According to a 2022 study, more than half of Polish adults (52.2%) aged 20 and over were overweight (BMI of 25 or more), with 13.6% struggling with obesity, defined as a BMI of 30 or more. Habits formed during college often accompany us throughout our lives, which is why it is so important to ensure a healthy diet and regular physical activity already during this period.
Aim. The aim of the study was to assess aerobic capacity using the multi-stage shuttle test – Beep Test and functional assessment using the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test in 2nd year physiotherapy students, Medical University of Lodz.
Materials and methods. The study involved 126 randomly selected physiotherapy students of the Medical University of Lodz, including 85 females and 41 males, aged 19 to 25 years (±20.25). Two separate tests were conducted: Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and the multi-stage pendulum Beep Test.
Results. More than 85% of the Beep Test subjects scored below average in the test, very good and good results in the aerobic capacity assessment test were obtained by only 1 person. Significant differences were found among the FMS test group in the test of deep squat, trunk stabilization, active straight leg raise according to BMI classification.
Conclusions. The FMS test and Beep test are effective tools for assessing physical fitness in the population.

Application of the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test to determine the risk of musculoskeletal injuries among firefighters and soldiers – pilot study

Abstract
Objective. Work specificity of uniformed services is characterized by a significant risk of injuries that may cause resignation from military service and results in significant social and economic costs. Many injuries can be prevented if abnormal movement patterns are noticed and corrected at the right time.
The objective of the study was to assess the quality of movement patterns and determine the risk of injuries to the musculoskeletal system among young soldiers and firefighters using the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test.
Material and methods. Sixty men aged 19-30 (average: 26.5 years) participated in the pilot study, including 30 soldiers (S) and 30 firefighters (F).
Results: In 5 out of 7 FMS tests, F obtained better results compared to S, however statistically significant differences were observed only in: deep squat test (F: 2.67 points vs S: 2.32 points; p = 0.020) and in-line lunge test (F: 2.87 points vs S: 2.42 points; p = 0.000). In addition, F obtained a statistically better final result of the FMS test (F: 17.50 points vs.
S: 16.97 points; p = 0.046). In both groups, the lowest results were obtained in the rotary stability test (F: 2.13 points;
S: 2.10 points) and the active straight leg raise test (F: 2.20 points; S: 2.00 points) .
Conclusions. The final FMS result in the groups F and S was in the upper limit of the middle range of scores (14-17 points), estimating the risk of injuries at the level of 25-35% and indicating the need for remedial procedures. FMS can be a useful tool in assessing the risk of injury to the musculoskeletal system in the case of employees of uniformed services and be part of their prevention.

FMS test in assessing the risk of injury in a group of female floorball players

Abstract
Functional Movement Screening is one of the tests which allow you to find the existing risk of injury. The aim of the work was to assess the state of functional movement possibilities of female floorball players with the use of the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test and to assess the possibility of improving the result with the use of a set of corrective exercises. The research covered a group of 50 fit young women aged 16-24, training floorball in the category of senior juniors and seniors (mean age 18.2). To evaluate the movement patterns, Functional Movement Screen (FMS) was used. The assessment with the FMS test consisted of seven functional movement tests. The average score obtained by the athletes in the FMS test before the correction was 14.6 points (SD = 1.5), after the correction 16.3 points (SD = 1.4). Female floorball players, based on the FMS test, present a good level of basic mobility with the risk classification of 25-35%. Introducing correction according to the FMS test after just 2 months improves the functional efficiency of the female floorball players.

Functional assessment of female dancers representing different dance styles, such as jazz and hip-hop, based on the Functional Movement Screen Test

Abstract
The objective of this study was to assess the level of functional fitness of 30 female dancers (16 jazz dancers and 14 hip-hop dancers), aged between 16 and 21 years. An important research goal was to determine whether there are any differences in the level of functional fitness between the two groups, depending on the dance style. Moreover, the study also aimed to assess the correlation between the style of dance and the results obtained for the particular components of the FMS test. The study was carried out in the Egurrola Dance Studio in Krakow in April 2018. The final result of the tests provided a picture of the overall physical fitness of the examined group of dancers, and was found to be appropriate, since the total mean score was above the limit value of an increased injury risk. No differences were found between jazz and hip-hop dancers with regard to the overall physical fitness score. At the same time, however, differences were detected in the detailed scores for the particular FMS components. The test results reflected the level of functional fitness among the dancers, and the detailed scores confirmed the differences in that level depending on the type of activity.
