Abstract
Introduction. Pain in the lower back has gained considerable attention within the medical community because of its major socioeconomic impact. Misconceptions and myths are widespread in many communities, especially in developing countries, which affects the prognosis of LBP. Aim of the study. The major goal of this study was to investigate the current LBP-related beliefs among the Saudi Arabian adult population. Methods. A cross-sectional, self-administered survey design was used to investigate the current beliefs related to LBP among 519 Saudi Arabian adults in different areas of Saudi Arabia (East, West, North, South, and Middle regions), conducted by Taif University from January 2023 to August 2023. The survey, including the LBP Beliefs Questionnaire (LBPBQ), demographic questions, and inquiries about LBP history, was made available online on a digital platform. Results. The most prevalent disbeliefs are “Back pain indicates the presence of organic injury or serious disease” (31.2% disagreed), “Back pain means one should refrain from physical activity” (36.61% disagreed), “Bed rest is the mainstay of therapy” (25.05% disagreed), “Remaining physically active is the best remedy against back pain” (38.4% rather agreed on this reversed-score question), “Someone with back pain can do things himself to ease recovery” (45.09% agreed on this reversed-score question), “Psychological factors such as thoughts and feelings can influence pain intensity” (38.73% rather agreed on this reversed-score question). Conclusion. Several misbeliefs related to LBP are still extant in the adult population in Saudi Arabia, particularly regarding physical activity, lack of self-control, pain medication, and the need for surgery.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG020C2RJ9

Abstract Introduction. Mini volleyball is a modified version of volleyball adapted in terms of facilities, infrastructure, number of players, and game rules. Objective. To determine the effectiveness of a mini volleyball learning model in improving the knowledge and technical skills of upper-grade male students based on Teaching Game for Understanding (TGfU), and to compare the outcomes of this model with other learning models. Methods. This research employs a research and development approach. Development research includes 10 steps: (1) gathering research results and information, (2) planning, (3) developing initial products, (4) conducting initial trials, (5) revising to create the main product, (6) conducting main field trials, (7) revising to create operational products, (8) conducting operational product trials, (9) final product revisions, and (10) disseminating and implementing developed products. The research was conducted from September 1 to December 31, 2022, in elementary schools in Bantul Regency. The effectiveness testing instruments used were the Independent Samples T-test and the Mann-Whitney Test. Results. The study showed that the TGfU-based mini volleyball learning model effectively improved knowledge, lower serves, upper serves, and lower passes. Based on the results, the difference in knowledge between the experimental and control groups was statistically significant, with a p-value of 0.026 (p < 0.05). Similarly, significant improvements were observed in lower serves, upper serves, and lower passes, with p-values of 0.000, 0.000, and 0.004, respectively (p < 0.05). Conclusion. The mini volleyball learning model based on TGfU positively impacts the knowledge and technical skills (lower passes, lower serves, and upper serves) of upper-grade male elementary school students.

J. Pokaczajło, T. Tasiemski – Analysis of selected determinants of knowledge about the health in persons with spinal cord injury. FP 2016; 16(3);106-116

Abstract
Aim of the Study. The main aim of this study has been to analyze the selected factors determining level of knowledge of the health condition of persons after the spinal cord injury (SCI). Selected variables have been divided into two groups:  1)  Socio-demographic: age on the day of the test, gender, marital status, level of education, place of residence, and 2)  associated with the SCI: age on the day of the injury, time elapsed from the injury, participation in the Active Rehabilitation (AR) camps, clinical picture, i.e. paraplegia/quadriplegia.
Materials and Methods. In the study participated 100 persons after the SCI (22 women and 78 men), dependent on a wheelchair in the everyday functions. To carry out the study, we have used the test of knowledge of the health condition of persons after the SCI.
Results. The mean score obtained by the respondents in the test of knowledge has been 27.11 points (Derived from the range: 10-45 points), which indicates a sufficient knowledge of the health condition of persons after the SCI. The best knowledge the respondents have shown on the issues related to nutrition and diet. The least knowledgeable they were in the areas of requesting support and orthopedic supplies. The factors significantly differentiating the level of knowledge about the health of persons after the SCI included: participation in the AR camps, age on the day of the injury and the time elapsed from the day of the injury.
Conclusions. The overall evaluation of knowledge as sufficient, and the unsatisfactory results within the particular areas of the functioning of persons after the SCI, have indicated the issues, which during the process of rehabilitation and education of the patients should be given particular attention.
