DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG020CE2ST

Abstract The sport of football often leads to injuries during training or competition due to both non-contact and contact incidents. Non-contact injuries are particularly common among football athletes due to the overuse of muscle tissue and joints, leading to injuries that interfere with the athlete’s physical activities. This research investigates the effects of foam rolling in the injury recovery process. Methods: Qualitative research with a literature review based on the PRISMA model, analyzing articles from 2018 to 2024. A total of 132 articles were initially identified, which were then narrowed down to 10 articles from sources such as Scopus, Google Scholar, and Semantic Scholar. Results: The findings from these 10 articles, which utilized samples and experimental models, indicate that foam rollers significantly increase the range of motion, enhance movement function, and decrease pain. Foam rolling can be effectively utilized in pre-match, post-match, and post-injury recovery scenarios. Conclusion: Proper and well-measured use of foam rollers can increase joint range, enhance movement function, and reduce pain in injury recovery, both in acute and chronic conditions according to physiological mechanisms. References from this literature review can serve as a basis for further research to refine the foam roller program in terms of intensity, indicators, and duration in injury recovery efforts.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG020AKKK

Abstract:
Background. The complex relationship between physical health and mental well-being, especially for those who have undergone a stroke, is increasingly acknowledged. It is crucial to include interventions that emphasize physical activity as a crucial element in successful stroke rehabilitation and preventing subsequent strokes. This research aimed to evaluate the relationship between physical activity and depression levels with stroke recurrences.
Method. This cross-sectional investigation enrolled 60 patients aged between 30 and 85 years, all receiving outpatient stroke treatment in a hospital in Indonesia. Stroke recurrence was defined as experiencing a second stroke within three months after the initial stroke. Among the total participants, 12 had experienced recurrent strokes, while 48 had not. Data on physical activity and depression levels were gathered using the IPAQ short form and PHQ-9 instruments. Simple logistic regression was conducted to assess the association between physical activity and depression levels with stroke recurrence, adjusting for age and sex.
Result. Patients with higher physical activity levels were less likely to experience recurrent strokes (OR = 0.534, 95% CI 0.201; 1.422), p = 0.027. In contrast, patients with higher depression levels were more likely to experience recurrent strokes (OR = 2.055, 95% CI 1.115; 3.787), p = 0.021.
Conclusion. The study highlights low physical activity and high depression as influential factors in increasing stroke recurrence, underscoring the need to promote physical activity and mental health support in stroke rehabilitation.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG5608CI6

Abstract
This research aims to determine the effectiveness of manipulative therapy in improving sleep quality in post-COVID-19 workers. The research was carried out in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The research design used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was 20 post-COVID-19 workers who had poor sleep quality and experienced fatigue. The treatment was carried out once with a duration of 45 minutes. Sleep quality was measured using the Sleep Quality Questionnaire (KKT) instrument and fatigue levels used the Indonesian version of the Fatigue Severity Scale. The level of sleep quality experienced by the samples before and 24 hours after treatment can be described: 18 (90%) samples had poor sleep quality and 2 (10%) samples had good sleep quality before treatment, and after 24 hours after treatment, 18 (90%) experienced good sleep quality improvement and 2 (10%) samples still had poor sleep quality. Level of fatigue: 20 (100%) samples experienced complaints of fatigue before treatment and 24 hours after treatment, 1 (5%) still experienced fatigue and 19 (95%) other samples did not experience fatigue or decreased fatigue. The criteria for sleep quality and level of fatigue, seen from the total scores on the questionnaire filled in by the sample, are in accordance with the score norms. Data analysis techniques use normality tests and difference tests. The research results show that the traditional massage method improves sleep quality and reduces fatigue levels significantly with a p-value < 0.05.

. Fizjoterapia Polska 2023; 23(3); 210-220

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56984/8ZG143A4A

Abstract
This study aimed to determine: (1) The effectiveness of Tepurak therapy (press, hit, motion) in treating non-specific Low Back Pain (LBP) injuries. (2) The effectiveness of a combined Deep Tissue Massage with stretching (DTMS) in treating non-specific LBP injuries. (3) A comparison of the effectiveness between Tepurak therapy and the combination of Deep Tissue Massage with stretching in treating non-specific LBP injuries.
Recovery indicators included pain level and range of motion (ROM). This pre-experimental research used two distinct sample groups with different treatments. The sample comprised 42 individuals with non-specific LBP injuries, who were randomly divided into two groups of 21. Group A underwent Tepurak therapy (press, hit, motion), while Group B received combined Deep Tissue Massage and stretching (DTMS). Each treatment session lasted 30 minutes.
Pain levels were measured using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), while ROM was assessed with the modified Schober Test and the Fingertip-to-Floor instruments. The data analysis employed various tests, including the Paired t-test, Wilcoxon, independent t-test, and Mann-Whitney.
The findings revealed that Tepurak therapy reduced pain and significantly enhanced ROM (p < 0.05). Similarly, the Deep Tissue Massage combined with stretching notably diminished pain and improved ROM (p < 0.05). Comparing the pretest and posttest data between Tepurak therapy and the Deep Tissue Massage with stretching on pain and ROM indicators yielded a p-value > 0.05. This suggests that there was no significant difference in the effectiveness of the two therapy types.
Based on this study, it’s recommended that either Tepurak therapy or the combination of Deep Tissue Massage with stretching can be employed to treat individuals with non-specific LBP. The choice should depend on the specific situation and conditions, taking into account the pros and cons of each therapy type.
