Correlation between physical activity with body mass index and body fat percentage: A study of final year students in junior high school

Abstract
Study purpose. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity (PA), body mass index (BMI), and body fat percentage in final-year students at the junior high school level.
Methods. This research is quantitative with a correlational research design. The subjects in this study were 9th-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Jogoroto who were selected using random sampling techniques. A total of 58 students (29 boys and 29 girls) were randomly selected and volunteered to participate in this study. PA levels were measured using the IPAQ questionnaire, body fat percentage was measured using the Tanita InnerScan Body Composition Monitor scales model BC-541, and BMI was obtained from the formula = body weight (kg)/body height² (m). The data analysis technique uses descriptive statistical tests and Spearman’s rho rank correlation with the help of Microsoft Excel 2016 and SPSS version 25.
Results. The results of the correlation test show that the correlation coefficient is negative and the significance is greater than 0.05 between PA and BMI (r = −0.162, p = 0.225 > 0.05) and body fat percentage (r = -0.095, p = 0.480 > 0.05). It can be said that these two relationships are weak, while BMI and body fat percentage have a positive correlation and significance less than 0.05 (r = 0.779, p = 0.000 < 0.05), indicating that BMI and body fat percentage have a strong correlation.
Conclusions. The conclusion is that PA is negatively correlated with BMI and body fat percentage, although neither relationship is significant. However, BMI was found to have a positive and significant correlation with body fat percentage in students. Therefore, it is recommended that students maintain their PA in line with WHO recommendations and keep their BMI within the normal range. If your BMI is normal, it is likely that your body fat percentage is also normal.

The impact of nonlinear pedagogy on communication and skill acquisition

Abstract
Study Purpose. The current investigation assessed the impact of hybrid nonlinear pedagogical models on skill acquisition and communication in physical education.
Methods. The intervention group was instructed in physical education applying hybrid pedagogical models for a duration of 12 weeks. Conversely, the control groups adhered to the physical education curricula of their respective schools. Scales for skill acquisition and communication, which had been previously developed for use with students, were implemented both prior to and subsequent to the program. Comparing the two groups required the application of paired sample t-tests, two-way and one-way analyses of variance, and a Pearson correlation analysis.
Results. In comparison to the control group, the intervention group demonstrated a substantial increase in communication and skill acquisition, according to the research findings. Enhancement of communication proficiency is observed in individuals who receive instruction through invasion game learning utilizing nonlinear pedagogy. The aforementioned conclusions are supported by the outcomes of paired sample t-tests, two-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and one-way ANOVA: F < 0.05 (F = 0.000 < 0.05) and ρ < 0.05 (ρ = 0.000 < 0, 05) respectively. Additionally, the Skill Acquisition ability exhibited an improvement subsequent to receiving the intervention based on nonlinear pedagogy and invasion game learning. The significance of this is supported by the outcomes of the paired sample t-tests, two-way ANOVA, and one-way ANOVA: F < 0.05 (F = 0.000 < 0.05) and ρ < 0.05 (ρ = 0.000 < 0.05), respectively.
Conclusions. The integration of hybrid nonlinear pedagogical models into physical education instruction through invasion games may facilitate students’ communication development and skill acquisition. The results of this study provide motivation for physical education instructors to implement instructional techniques. Additionally, research is conducted into the effects of nonlinear pedagogy

Abstract
Introduction. Early recognition of posture defects and properly prepared and conducted corrective and compensatory plan are able to help children to regain the correct posture and avoid development of defects. Corrective activities should be available for all children that require them.
Aim. The aim of this research was to find whether there exists a statistically significant correlation between teachers’ socjo-demographic characteristics and their observations and opinions regarding posture defects and corrective activities for students.
Methods. Author’s survey form was used. The survey was conducted among 30 teachers teaching PE for pupils in classes 1-8.
Results. Most of the teachers noticed posture defects in their pupils. The number of such cases has risen along with the teachers’ seniority. They believe that there should be classes aiming at corrective activities or conducted at pools. Between most of the variables used a statistically significant correlation was observed.
Summary. The study shown that there is a need to organize corrective activities and PE classes at pools for pupils in classes 1-8. Introduction of such classes might bring significant benefits for students and help them maintain proper body posture.
