Abstract
Objective. To compare the impacts of Knee stability training exercise versus Biodex balance training on dynamic balance indices in individuals suffering from knee osteoarthritis. Methods. This randomized, double-blind, pre-post measurement study included forty patients aged 45 to 65 with knee osteoarthritis. They were classified into 2 groups at random: group A (n = 20), which received knee stability training plus strengthening exercise, and group B (n = 20), which received Biodex balance training plus strengthening exercise. The Biodex Balance System and Visual Analog Scale were utilized to quantify dynamic balance indices as well as pain intensity at baseline and four weeks following therapy. Results. Statistically significant differences were reported in the overall stability index (OASI), anterior-posterior stability index (APSI), medial-lateral stability indices (MLSI), and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) values before and after treatment for group A (p < 0.05) as well as before and after treatment for group B (p < 0.05). Statistically significant differences were reported among the two groups (A & B) regarding the post-treatment values of the OASI, APSI, MLSI, and VAS (p < 0.05). Conclusion. Improvement in all dynamic balance indices and pain was reported after knee stability training exercises and after Biodex balance training, with greater improvement after Biodex balance training.

Abstract
Aim. To explore whether the eccentric muscle strength of both hip abductors and external rotators differ in participants with subacute lateral ankle sprain and healthy population, and to compare the Biodex balance measures as well. Material and methods. Thirty males diagnosed as a second degree ankle sprain enrolled in this study, while twenty-nine healthy volunteers considered as controls. The study measured both the peak eccentric torque for both hip abductors and external rotators using Biodex isokinetic dynamometer. All participants examined for bilateral and unilateral balance ability using Biodex balance system from erect position to determine total stability index (SI), anteroposterior index (API), and mediolateral index (MLI). Results. A detected significant negative correlation was obvious between peak eccentric isokinetic testing for hip external rotators torque; and total SI, API, and MLI of all the Biodex balance system measures for bilateral stance and API in unilateral stance. While, a moderate significant positive correlation found for peak eccentric isokinetic torques between both hip external rotators and abductors. Conclusion. Decreased hip muscle strength can increase the vulnerability of ankle ligaments via minimizing the postural control during weight-bearing activities, which, in turn, stimulates the compensatory neuromuscular mechanisms.

Abstract
Objectives. Lumbar lordosis is a main element in maintaining the sagittal balance. Improper postural alignment and trunk stability and excessive spine curvatures such as lordosis, kyphosis and scoliosis can impact our balance system adversely. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of different lumbar lordotic angles on dynamic postural stability and limits of stability in young adults. Methods. 100 normal male subjects participated in this study; their ages were ranged from 20 to 35 years and their BMI were ranged from 18.5 to 24.9 kg/m2. They assigned to two equal groups according to the lumbar lordotic angle. Group (A) (n = 50 males) control group with normal lumbar lordotic angles ranged from 20 to 60 degrees. Group (B) (n = 50 males) hyper lordotic group with lumbar lordotic angles more than 60 degrees. X-ray was done to measure the lumbar lordotic angles using cobb’s angle method and the biodex balance system was used for assessment of dynamic postural stability and limits of stability. Results. The findings of current study using the MANOVA test revealed that there was a significant effect of different lumbar lordotic angles on dynamic postural stability and limits of stability in young adults (p = 0.0001). Conclusion. It was concluded that the difference in lumbar lordotic angles had an effect on dynamic postural stability and limits of stability in young adults. Moreover, subjects with increased lumbar lordotic angles reported poor dynamic postural stability and decreased limits of stability compared with normal ones using the biodex balance system.
