Santrauka

Abstract

Purpose. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of selected forms of activity on the prevention of dysfunction and reduction of pain in the hip joint. Material and methods. The study included 101 subjects (men = 54, women = 47), who had different levels of physical activity or a complete lack thereof. The study was carried out using a proprietary survey questionnaire. Results. An association was found between physical activity and prevention of dysfunction and reduction of hip pain. Conclusions. Poor preparation for physical activity can result in less effective physical activity. Excessive or poorly conducted workouts can result in more undesirable outcomes than no physical activity.

Fizjoterapia Polska 2021; 21(4); 190-203

Abstract
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of human joint pathology. It is estimated that it affects about 6% of the world’s population. In addition to the hand and knee joints, the hip joint is one of the most common joints affected by OA.
The study included 59 randomly selected patients (from a group of over 600 people operated in a similar period) of the Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Department of the Centre for Rehabilitation and Orthopaedics in Krakow, who underwent THA due to advanced degenerative changes using a cementless prosthesis.
The objective of the study was to compare the early and late outcomes of the procedure (patient’s fitness level and subjective assessment) using the anterolateral (according to Watson-Jones) and lateral (McFarland and Osborne as modified by Hardinge) approach.
The obtained results confirm better outcomes in terms of the abduction strength scale (SO%), HHS, VAS, frequency of the Trendelenburg sign and partially mobility (external rotation) in relation to short-term follow-up (especially after 6 and 12 weeks), but not long-term follow-up (after 24 weeks and 11-12 years).
It was found that people who underwent surgery using the lateral approach (according to Hardinge) recover faster than people who underwent surgery with the use of the anterolateral approach (according to Watson-Jones).

Ewa Rosa, Wojciech Hagner, Urszula Kazimierczak, Grzegorz Srokowski, Agnieszka Radzymińska – Hospital rehabilitation after implantation of cementless hip endoprosthesis. Fizjoterapia Polska 2003; 3(2); 159-163

Abstract
Background. Hip joint alloplasty is a very complicated therapeutic problem. The cooperation of the orthopedic surgeon with they physiotherapist is very important in successful treatment. The aim of current treatment strategies is to restore the function of the hip joint. This article describes the model of rehabilitation treatment we apply in our clinical practice.Material and methods. We examined 18 patients after hip alloplasty using a cementless endoprosthesis, operated in the Orthopedic and Traumatology Clinic of the Medical University of Bydgoszcz, and rehabilitated in the Rehabilitation Clinic of the Medical University of Bydgoszcz. On the basis of differences in limb length, the patients were divided into three subgroups: A) no difference in limb length; B) operated limb shorter; C) operated limb longer.Results. Significant differences among the subgroups were found in terms of the percentage of weight burden on the operated limb.Conclusions. Rehabilitation after hip alloplasty must consider each patient individually. Outcome depends not only on good surgical technique, but also the nature and quality of the rehabilitation program after surgery.

Przemysław Lisiński, Maria Tomaszewska, Włodzimierz Samborski – Select physiotherapeutic methods in treatment of a hip joint degeneration. Fizjoterapia Polska 2006; 6(1); 45-50

Abstract

Background. Degenerative joint disease is regarded as a civilization-related disease, and is one of the most vital problems facing global medical care at the turn of the century. In most cases this problem is connected with the hip joint, mainly among elderly people. The aim of our study was to estimate the efficiency of selected physiotherapeutic procedures
in the treatment of degenerative disease of the hip joint. Material and methods. We examined 60 persons with hip problems. The age of the patients oscillated between 47 and 77 years, with a mean of 62,8 ±10,31 years. The patients were divided into 4 subgroups, who received the same kinesitherapeutic procedures but different physical agents, such as cryotherapy, laser, magnetic field, and high-frequency impulse electromagnetic field. The duration of treatment was 21 days. We performed a full orthopedic examination before and after therapy. Results. Our results showed that the level of pain went down and the range of movement went up after treatment. Conclusions. Physiotherapy is a suitable method for treating degenerative changes in the hip joint. The time of observation was too short to allow for assessment of the improvement of the trophic properties of muscles.

Fizjoterapia Polska 2019; 19(1); 98-107

Abstract

Aim. To investigate the frequency of occurrence of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip in newborns and to distinguish the main factors causing its occurrence.
Material and methods. The research included medical documentation in the form of the medical history of 1591 patients in the neonatological ward of the Provincial Specialist Hospital of Megrez Sp. z o.o. in Tychy.
Results. The incidence of DDH was higher among girls than among boys, and predominantly in the right joints. The study did not detect any significant relationship between the occurrence of DDH and the type of delivery, week of pregnancy, multiplicity of pregnancy and birth weight of newborns. However, a statistically significant relationship was detected between the occurrence of physiologically immature joints and the birth weight of newborns.
Conclusions. 1. The frequency of occurrence of DDH among newborns staying in the neonatal ward of the Provincial Hospital in Tychy in 2017 was 2.7% and was lower than the literature gives. 2. The occurrence of DDH was more frequent among girls than among boys. 3. DDH occurred more frequently in a statistically significant way in the right joint. 4. A significant relationship was found between the occurrence of type IIa variations according to the Graf scale and the birth weight of the newborn. 5. There were no significant relationships between the occurrence of DDH and the type of delivery, week of pregnancy, multiplicity of pregnancy and birth weight of newborns.
