Abstract
Urinary incontinence (UI) is according to ICS definition “every uncontrolled urine loss”. Among the broadly understood definition, there are different types of UI: effort, urgent, from overflow, mixed, transitional, bedwetting and other types of UI. The most common type from mentioned is the effort urinary incontinence and the mixed one. Due to the complex nature of UI problem, there are many methods of diagnosis and treatment of incontinence. In conservative treatment, pelvic floor muscle exercises, physical therapy (including magnetic field) and behavioral therapy are commonly used.  The aim of the study.  The aim of work is to evaluate the impact of magnetostimulation and pelvic floor muscle exercises on the level of urinary incontinence among women after menopause. Material and methodology.  The research was conducted among 30 women at the age of 45–67 years old (average ± 56) who were treated because of UI in The Independent Public Health Care Centre named Primate Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in Sieradz in the rehabilitation ward. The patients were divided into two groups – 15 people each. In the first group participants were tested by magnetostimulation and they were doing pelvic floor muscle exercises. In the second group they were only doing pelvic floor muscle exercises.The patients have been surveyed twice, before and after 3 weeks therapy. In the study two different questionnaires (A and B) were used. They were based on Gaudenza questionnaire. Results. According to the analysis of survey data, these are the following results. In the first group improvement concerned: reduction in the frequency of UI episodes and frequency of urination, less amount of „urine loss” and UI intensity based on daily physical acivity, extending the time of the ability to control urination and better quality of life tested women. In the second group an improvement has been noticed according to subjective patient’s feelings. All data analysis results from questionnaires were not statistically significant.
Conclusions. From the analysis of the results, the following conclusions have been drawn: 1. Combination therapy of magnetostimulation with pelvic floor exercises causes more beneficial effect than applying only exercises. 2. Subjective assessment of participants on how to improve ailments connected with UI, speaks in favour of therapy with the use of magnetic field stimulation. 3. The most common type of incontinence amoung tested women after menopause was the effort one. 4. Therapy with 3–weeks programme of magnetic field stimulation increases the level of satisfaction and improves well-being of poople with UI.

Abstract
Background. The aim of this research is the evaluation of influence of magnetotherapy and magnetostimulation on human’s body directly after submaximal physical effort. Material and methods. The research was carried over the group of 40 students, that do not actively train any sport. The students were making a physical effort on a cyklometer three times. After every effort the restitution time was defined by moment when pulse returned to preefort measures. Students were always lying in their resting time. Firstly it was a passive type of rest; secondly rest supported by magnetostimulation (Viofor JPS) and thirdly supported by magnetotherapy (legs in MAGNETRONIC MF-10). Parameters of applied magnetic fields were from the group of medical doses. Results. Results of the research have shown that statistically the restitution time supported by magnetostimulation as well as magnetotherapy became significantly shorter.

Magnetic field stimulation and the quality of life in MS patients

Abstract
Background. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effectiveness of magnetic field stimulation and exercise on the quality of life in multiple sclerosis patients undergoing home-based rehabilitation. Material and methods. The study involved a group of 87 patients with advanced multiple sclerosis (minimum grade 6 in the Expanded Disability Status Scale). Patients were divided into two groups. In Group I magnetic field was applied from a Viofor JPS apparatus once daily for 20 days. Group II (controls) did not receive magnetic field therapy. Patients from both groups carried out exercises at home. The clinical status was evaluated using Cendrowski’s numerical scale and the Expanded Disability Status Scale. Quality of life was examined by using an extended Testa and Simonson questionnaire. Patients were evaluated twice: before and after 20 days of rehabilitation at home. Results. An improvement was obtained in Group I, where magnetic field stimulation was applied, with regard to everyday functioning and such activities as personal hygiene, getting dressed, eating meals, or locomotion. There was a statistically significant improvement in muscle strength, sphincter control, a decrease in muscle tone, fatiguability, sensory disturbances and balance dis­tur­bances. There was also a significant improvement in the patients’ mental state and emotional function, less depression and fear and increased satisfaction with life.Conclusions. Magnetic field stimulation had a significant impact on the quality of life in multiple sclerosis patients. Exercise and magnetic field therapy in patients with advanced disability improved not only their motor ability but also mental state. Magnetic field stimulation supported and facilitated rehabilitation exercises performed at home by the MS patients.

Magnetostymulacja w leczeniu przewlekłej rany po usunięciu mięśnia strzałkowego jako konsekwencji wypadku komunikacyjnego – opis przypadku

Streszczenie

Nie budzi obecnie wątpliwości coraz częstsze wykorzystywanie metod medycyny fizykalnej w licznych działach medycyny. Szeroki wachlarz zabiegów umożliwia wdrażanie odpowiedniego leczenia, jego skracanie oraz zmniejszanie kosztów społeczno-ekonomicznych. Dotyczy to schorzeń i urazów narządu ruchu, tkanek miękkich oraz przewlekłych ran. Stosowane leczenie farmakologiczne w wielu przypadkach jest niewystarczające i kosztowne. W artykule przedstawiono korzystny wynik leczenia 17-letniego pacjenta z utrzymującą się przewlekła raną po usunięciu mięśnia strzałkowego długiego (w związku z jego martwicą) kończyny prawej w wyniku doznanego wypadku komunikacyjnego. W leczeniu zastosowano zabiegi magnetostymulacji (zmienne pole magnetyczne) przez 12 tygodni doprowadzając do całkowitego wygojenia się rany po uprzednio przeprowadzonym zabiegu operacyjnym. Wygojenie rany umożliwiło pacjentowi samodzielne poruszanie się (bez asekuracji kul łokciowych, bez odczuwania dolegliwości bólowych), a korzystny wynik leczenia wpłynął na poprawę jakości życia leczonego pacjenta.
