Abstract
The paper reviews articles on the effectiveness of neurofeedback therapy in people diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The review attempted to analyse the literature on the impact and effects of therapy. The papers were selected in course of the search of databases PubMed and Scopus. The analysis
of papers indexed in the mentioned databases allows to state that many authors have conducted research on the effectiveness of this method of therapy. Lots of articles have shown that neurofeedback is an effective additional or alternative method of therapy for people with ADHD, leading i.e. to improving behaviour, concentration, and increasing IQ. Positive effects indicate the usefulness of this method as the main or auxiliary one in the therapy of people with ADHD. This indicates the need to include it in comprehensive neurorehabilitation activities, and future efforts should focus on the development and implementation of standard neurofeedback therapy protocols to ensure learning and optimize clinically relevant outcomes. According to some authors, some studies on the effectiveness of neurofeedback contain methodological shortcomings, such as not taking into account the control group, composing small or heterogeneous groups of patients, the lack of random selection for the studied groups and many other limitations. Therefore, in order to further, precisely control the effects, new research is needed, and an appropriate methodological approach should be taken into account in their planning and implementation.
