Abstract
Objectives. To investigate the effect of preoperative graduated abdominal exercises and Russian stimulation on the strength of abdominal muscles after abdominoplasty. Methods. Sixty patients before abdominoplasty were enrolled in this study after the assessment of their eligibility, their age ranged from 20 to 45 years, they were randomly distributed into four equal groups. The ultrasonography was used to evaluate abdominal muscle thickness as an indicator for muscle strength on 4 occasions, initial assessment, pre-operative assessment, 2 Months post-operative assessment, and finally 4 Months post-operative assessment. For study group (A); received only graduated abdominal exercises, group (B); received only Russian stimulation on abdominal muscles, group (c); received graduated abdominal exercises and Russian stimulation on abdominal muscles, all participants in the study groups received the treatment protocol for 30 min., 3 times/week for 6 successive weeks preoperatively for control group (D); were instructed to presume in normal activities of daily living preoperatively. Results. Post-treatment findings, revealed a statistically significant increase in abdominal muscle strength preoperatively and postoperatively in the three study groups compared to the control group in favor of group C. Conclusion. The pre-operative graduated abdominal exercises and Russian current stimulation has a significant effect in strengthening abdominal muscles after abdominoplasty.

Eman Abdelfatah Mohamed Elhosary, Hamada Ahmed Hamada, Mahmoud Ewidea, Zizi M. Ibrahim – Impact of pulsed electromagnetic field on pain level in Females with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease: A randomized controlled trial. Fizjoterapia Polska 2020; 20(3); 116-120

Abstract
Purpose. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection-induced inflammation of the female upper reproductive tract some cases not respond to medical treatment, the aim of the study to detect the effect of pulsed electromagnetic (PEMF)in treatment of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. Materials and Methods. this study was designed as single blind randomized controlled trial. Forty females complain from PID, their age ranged from (20-40) years and their body mass index (BMI) not exceeds 30 kg/m², they and were randomly assigned into 2 equal groups: Study group (A) received oral antibiotic (doxycycline100 mg) twice daily for 7 days in addition to PEMF for1 hour, 3 times per week for 12 sessions with 50 Hz in frequency and 60 G in intensity. Control group (B) received routine medical treatment by oral antibiotic (doxycycline100 mg) twice daily for 7 days. Both groups were assessed by present pain intensity scale, estimation of C-reactive protein and ESR level in blood before the treatment and after 12 sessions of PEMF. Results. There were significant differences in pain scores presented by Mean Difference (MD) and 95% Confidence Interval(CI) (MD 2; 95%CI 1.8 to 2.21), ESR (MD 16.75; 95%CI 13.973 to 19.52) and CRP (MD 35.8; 95%CI 31.97 to 39.63) between the both groups. The significant improvement from pretreatment to post treatment, was seen in all dependent variables at study group (p < 0.05) and in pain severity and CRP in control group. Conclusion. Pulsed electromagnetic yields improvement in pain and decrease in inflammation measured by decrease inflammatory markers in the treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease.

Nancy Hassan Aboelnour, Mahmoud Ewidea, Rafik Radwan – Impact of Supervised Active Rehabilitation Program on Functional Activity in Patients with Post Burn Lower Limb. Fizjoterapia Polska 2020; 20(2); 102-108

Abstract
Objective. To determine whether active rehabilitation program including both isokinetic and aerobic exercises in lower limb after burn is effective or not? Method. Forty patients with lower limb burn were randomly divided into two equal groups, Group A (active rehabilitation group): received guidelines protocol (range of motion exercise, massage, splinting, stretching) plus active rehabilitation program consisted of combined isokinetic and aerobic exercises, while Group B (control group): received guidelines protocol and aerobic exercises. Treatment program was applied for 12 weeks (3 sessions/week). Evaluation methods included Biodex isokinetic dynamometer (BID) for obtaining peak torque (PT) of quadriceps and hamstring strength assessment and Lower Extremity Functional scale (LEFS) for functional activity assessment of lower limb. All measures were gathered before the start of the study, and after termination of the trial (after 12 weeks).
Results. An increase in PT of quadriceps and hamstring was reported in both groups at the end of the trial, 32.69% and 25.7% respectively in group A, while 14.19% and 10.22% respectively in group B. The difference between both groups was statistically significant (p < 0.05). Also, there was a statistical improvement in LEFS score in group A compared with that of group B (p < 0.05), as the percent of improvement in group A and B was 72.9% and 38.91% respectively. Conclusion. Higher statistical results were achieved with active rehabilitation program illustrating the prominent effects of isokinetic exercises in lower limb burn in the term of improving leg muscles strength and functional activity.
