Sažetak
Pozadina. Adolescentna idiopatska skolioza (AIS) je složeno 3D strukturalno stanje kralježnice koje se javlja kod djece od 10 godina do dobi skeletne zrelosti. Studija je imala za cilj istražiti utjecaj tehnike energetskog mišića i/ili miofascijalnog oslobađanja na adolescentnu idiopatsku skoliozu za veliki uzorak. Također, cilj joj je bio usporediti tehnike energetskog mišića naspram miofascijalnog oslobađanja na idiopatsku skoliozu.
Metode. Ukupno 50 djevojaka s idiopatskom nje-koštanom strukturalnom skoliozom torakalne kralježnice uključeno je u ovo ispitivanje. Slučajno su podijeljene u dvije jednako velike skupine (n = 25 za svaku skupinu). Tijekom tri mjeseca, skupina A (Grupa tehnike energetskog mišića), koja je primila vježbe pristupa znanstvenim vježbama za skoliozu dodatno uz tehniku energetskog mišića; i skupina B (Grupa miofascijalnog oslobađanja), koja je primila iste vježbe pristupa znanstvenim vježbama za skoliozu provedene skupini A dodatno uz miofascijalno oslobađanje. Primarni ishod bio je stojeća radiološka evaluacija koronarnog Cobb kuta.
Rezultati. Prema nalazima ove studije, otkrivena je vrlo značajna razlika u prosječnim vrijednostima Cobb kuta između prije i poslije tretmana u grupi tehnike energetskog mišića. Kada su uspoređene prosječne vrijednosti Cobb kuta prije i nakon tretmana za grupu miofascijalnog oslobađanja, otkrivena je značajna promjena.
Zaključci. Nakon tretmana od tri mjeseca, obje skupine su značajno poboljšale, pri čemu je grupa tehnike energetskog mišića znatno nadmašila grupu miofascijalnog oslobađanja. Dakle, tehnika energetskog mišića bila je učinkovitija od miofascijalnog oslobađanja u smanjenju abnormalne torakalne zakrivljenosti kod adolescentne idiopatske skolioze.

Abstract
Background. Scoliosis is lateral curvature of the normal vertical line of the spine. Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic regional pain, caused by trigger points in skeletal muscle.
Purpose. To assess the effect of myofascial release (MFR) on spinal adjustment in treatment of postural scoliosis.
Methods. A randomized controlled clinical trial. Thirty Egyptian female students were assigned randomly in to two groups. The control group received therapeutic exercises (stretching and strengthening exercises of the back) for 6 weeks (n = 15), and the experimental group received MFR and the same exercises for 6 weeks (n = 15). The following parameters including pain level assessed by visual analog scale (VAS), functional disability assessed by Oswestry disability index (ODI), lumbar range of motion (flexion, extension, and side bending to the convex side) and Cobb’s angle assessed by X-ray were measured before and after 6 weeks of treatment.
Results. The results showed significant improvements in pain level, functional disability, and lumbar range of motion in all directions in the study group compared with those in the control group (p < 0.05); however, the Cobb’s angle showed no significant differences between the two groups after treatment (p < 0.05).
Conclusion. Myofascial release is an effective method for spinal adjustment in treatment of postural scoliosis.

Effect of aerobic training versus myofascial release on claudication among peripheral arterial insufficiency patients: A randomized controlled study

Abstract
Purpose. To compare between the effect of aerobic training and myofascial release on claudication indices among subjects with peripheral arterial insufficiency.
Methods. A randomized controlled trial. Overall, 40 patients of both sexes, their ages ranged between 45-55 years and they had ABI between 0.90-0.50 and they agreed to participate in the study, they were recruited randomly and divided into two equal groups; Group A: included twenty patients who participated aerobic training program combined with traditional burger’s exercise for 45minutes, 3 times per week for two months as a total treatment period in addition to their medical treatment. Group B: included twenty patients who received myofascial release technique combined with traditional burger’s exercise for 45 minutes, 3 times per week for two months as a total treatment period in addition to their medical treatment. Pre- and post- study period (2 months), assessment using ABI, COT, MCT, MCD.PSV, WIQ were done for all patients.
Results. the results showed statistical differences concerning ABI, COT, MCT, MCD, WIQ, and PSV in both groups, however, the results were in the favor of the aerobic training group(A).
Conclusion. it was concluded that both aerobic training and myofascial release were effective in the increase of claudication indices and enhancing walking functional capacity among peripheral arterial insufficiency patients, however, aerobic training causes much more improvement than myofascial release.
