Abstract
Purpose. To compare between the effect of torso based balance weighting and tailored physical therapy program on balance and postural control in ataxic MS patients. Methods. Ninety patients diagnosed as ataxic multiple sclerosis with impaired balance and postural control were selected from outpatient clinic of two hospitals. The patients randomly assigned into two groups, group (A: n = 30) received torso-based balance weighting and selected physical therapy program and group (B; n = 60) received tailored physiotherapy program and the same selected physical therapy program. Treatment lasted eight weeks, three times per week. Pre- and post-treatment assessment using berg balance scale and overall stability index were done for all patients. Results. Post-treatment comparisons between the two groups showed a statistically significant improvement in Berg balance (p < 0.05) in favor of group (B) and both groups showed clinical improvement. Conclusion. The tailored physical therapy program was more statistically effective in improving balance disorders than torso based balance weighting in ataxic MS patients, and there was clinical effect on improving postural control of both groups.

Abstract
Inconstant clinical image and functional state of patients with cerebral palsy as well as difficulties in achievements of intended therapy aims put forward the need for constant searching for new improvement methods by the physiotherapists. The Balance Trainer – static-dynamic parapodium equipped with Balance-Soft computer program – is the device which can be applied in the therapy and diagnostics of persons with cerebral palsy. The aim of the thesis is to estimate the possibilities to apply the Balance Trainer device in the therapy of the children with cerebral palsy. Children and youth (7 subjects) with different forms of ICP, assessed using GMFCS (levels I-IV) scale were qualified for the study. The subjects were initially examined using Balance Trainer parapodium. The tests involved assessment of gravity centre location (balance test), deflection test and the assessment of the ability to perform intended movements in the frontal and sagittal plane. Next, their posture was controlled in standing position and the initially performed tests were repeated. All the results were statistically analysed. In children with lower GMFCS levels (I-II) the treatment brought about better results than in these with higher levels of impairment (III-IV), although a therapeutic success was achieved in each case.Using the Balance Trainer device in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy one can improve both the postural control and movement coordination. The improvement level depends on the form of cerebral palsy and the functional deficiency.

Abstract
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) represents an extensive class of symptoms manifested as deficiencies in such fields as communication, social development and stereotypical behavioural patterns. Autism symptoms appear in social interactions issues, mood disorders, somatosensory disorders, concentration problems. The conversion disorders are frequently diagnosed in autistic children. Maintaining the standing balance is an immensely important skill in the child’s development, which consists in controlling the centre of gravity over the support plane. Appropriate balance is necessary for successful performance of numerous daily actions. Retarded development of balance impedes the future motor development and affects the opportunity of the children’s involvement in interactions with peers.
The purpose of this paper was an impartial evaluation of balance skills in children with autism spectrum disorder.
Material and methods. 30 children 5-7 year-old with ASD, including 22 boys and 8 girls. Methods: The Scoring Form for Fullerton Advanced Balance (FAB) Scale test was used for evaluation of the balance.
Results. The lowest results were obtained in the tandem walk and stand on one leg test. The test results varied in specific age groups, however, the differences were not significant. Substantial differences were displayed in tandem gait test for specific age groups.
Conclusions. In children with ASD disorders in balance skills occur.
