Abstract
Background. Menopause and aging affect the health of obese women, provoking accumulation of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and inflammation. Obesity leads to major health problems, which increase the risk of debilitating diseases that lead to death. Thus, loss of weight and VAT are primary goals of treatment through modifications of dietary habits and exercise. Purpose of the study. This study was conducted to determine which is more effective on interleukin- 6 (IL-6) levels for obese post-menopausal women, whole body vibration training (WBVT) or high intensity interval training (HIIT). Subjects and methods. 45 post-menopausal obese women diagnosed with higher level of IL-6, their body mass index (BMI) > 30 kg/m2 and waist/hip ratio (W/H ratio) > 0.8 participated at this study. Women were divided randomly into 3 equal groups in numbers; Group (A) followed low caloric diet (1200 Cal), Group (B) received WBVT and Group (C) received HIIT. Both groups (B & C) followed the same low caloric diet as group (A). Evaluation was done before and after 3 months of treatment, through measuring weight, BMI, waist as well as hip circumferences, W/H ratio and IL-6 levels. Results. The three groups revealed statistically significant improvements (P < 0.05) in all parameters after treatment compared to baseline. Also, there were statistically differences between the 3 groups after treatment, with the group (B) more favorable than groups (A & C). Conclusion. WBVT is more effective than HIIT on reducing inflammation via reducing IL-6 level in obese post-menopausal women.

Abstract
Background and objective. Postmenopausal women suffer from clinical symptoms such as vasomotor, psychological, physical, and genitourinary symptoms. 77% of postmenopausal women suffer from muscle and joint problems, loss of muscle strength and flexibility. This study was conducted to see effect of Pilates exercise on postmenopausal symptoms and lumbar flexibility.
Methods. Forty postmenopausal women at least 1 year from their last menstruation aged from 50-59 years there BMI does not exceed 30 kg/m2 were assigned randomly to 2 equal groups: Group A (study group) received calcium 500 mg/day, cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) (0.2mg)/day and Pilates exercises (hundred, saw, side kick spine stretch) for 45 minutes/ session, three times per week for 12 weeks. Group B (control group) only received calcium 500 mg/day and cholecalciferol (0.2 mg)/day for 12 weeks. Their menopausal symptoms were assessed through menopausal rating scale (MRS) and lumbar flexibility assessed by (modified Schober test, sit to reach test and fingertip to floor test) before and after treatment period.
Results. There was a significant decrease in MRS post treatment results in the study and control group compared with that of pretreatment ones (p > 0.01). there was a significant decrease in the post treatment results of MRS of Group A (study group) compared with that of Group B (control group). Regarding flexibility There was a significant increase in sit and reach distance, modified Schober test distance and significant decrease in fingertip-to-floor distance post treatment results in the study and control group compared with that pretreatment results (p < 0.001), there was a significant increase in lumbar flexibility of Group A (study group) compared with that of Group B (control group) post-treatment results.

Robert Kowalski, Joanna Kałuża-Pawłowska, Marek Kiljański – The impact of magnetostimulation on the level of urinary incontinence among women after menopause. Fizjoterapia Polska 2021; 21(5); 58-69

Abstract
Urinary incontinence (UI) is according to ICS definition “every uncontrolled urine loss”. Among the broadly understood definition, there are different types of UI: effort, urgent, from overflow, mixed, transitional, bedwetting and other types of UI. The most common type from mentioned is the effort urinary incontinence and the mixed one. Due to the complex nature of UI problem, there are many methods of diagnosis and treatment of incontinence. In conservative treatment, pelvic floor muscle exercises, physical therapy (including magnetic field) and behavioral therapy are commonly used.  The aim of the study.  The aim of work is to evaluate the impact of magnetostimulation and pelvic floor muscle exercises on the level of urinary incontinence among women after menopause. Material and methodology.  The research was conducted among 30 women at the age of 45–67 years old (average ± 56) who were treated because of UI in The Independent Public Health Care Centre named Primate Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in Sieradz in the rehabilitation ward. The patients were divided into two groups – 15 people each. In the first group participants were tested by magnetostimulation and they were doing pelvic floor muscle exercises. In the second group they were only doing pelvic floor muscle exercises. The patients have been surveyed twice, before and after 3 weeks therapy. In the study two different questionnaires (A and B) were used. They were based on Gaudenza questionnaire. Results. According to the analysis of survey data, these are the following results. In the first group improvement concerned: reduction in the frequency of UI episodes and frequency of urination, less amount of „urine loss” and UI intensity based on daily physical acivity, extending the time of the ability to control urination and better quality of life tested women. In the second group an improvement has been noticed according to subjective patient’s feelings. All data analysis results from questionnaires were not statistically significant.
Conclusions. From the analysis of the results, the following conclusions have been drawn: 1. Combination therapy of magnetostimulation with pelvic floor exercises causes more beneficial effect than applying only exercises. 2. Subjective assessment of participants on how to improve ailments connected with UI, speaks in favour of therapy with the use of magnetic field stimulation. 3. The most common type of incontinence amoung tested women after menopause was the effort one. 4. Therapy with 3–weeks programme of magnetic field stimulation increases the level of satisfaction and improves well-being of poople with UI.
