Abstract
Introduction. Early recognition of posture defects and properly prepared and conducted corrective and compensatory plan are able to help children to regain the correct posture and avoid development of defects. Corrective activities should be available for all children that require them.
Aim. The aim of this research was to find whether there exists a statistically significant correlation between teachers’ socjo-demographic characteristics and their observations and opinions regarding posture defects and corrective activities for students.
Methods. Author’s survey form was used. The survey was conducted among 30 teachers teaching PE for pupils in classes 1-8.
Results. Most of the teachers noticed posture defects in their pupils. The number of such cases has risen along with the teachers’ seniority. They believe that there should be classes aiming at corrective activities or conducted at pools. Between most of the variables used a statistically significant correlation was observed.
Summary. The study shown that there is a need to organize corrective activities and PE classes at pools for pupils in classes 1-8. Introduction of such classes might bring significant benefits for students and help them maintain proper body posture.
